February 25, 20197 yr I have a 2005 Ford Fiesta which we are looking to put a Dave Cooper bike rack onto the back for a supermoto pit bike. I believe that the nose weight is just over 60kg but the bike weighs 71kg. I am worried that because it is over the weight it will affect the steering of the car? Also if anyone has any advice or experience on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Hate to ruin your plans but I think it voids your insurance if the nose weight is exceeded in the event of an accident. Don't take my word for it check yourself, best knowing now hopefully it will save you a nightmare somewhere down the line.
February 26, 20197 yr You also need to factor in the weight of the rack itself. (I think they are about 10Kg ?) Knowingly overloading the tow bar is contributory negligence from an insurance viewpoint. if the back of the car is empty and you don't care about the law/insurance I think the car would steer okay and so on, but if you load the back up then you would definitely notice the reduction in handling. Enough weight that the suspension is sagging and you are asking for a pull as well. Do it enough and you might need new springs too. Edited February 26, 20197 yr by ChrisCH
February 26, 20197 yr If its just for a pit bike, you could get a small second hand trailer for the price of the bike rack
