Mar engine weight

Featured Replies

Good evening

I need to send my Ossa MAR engine complete with head and barrel from Spain to the UK.

I have no way of weighing it can anyone tell me what it weighs?

also any hints on a good and cheap carrier would be appreciated.

With regards to engine weight, surely you have access to bathroom scales ? Just weigh yourself holding that big lump of motor and then weigh yourself again without motor, hey presto you now have your answer.

No bathroom scales or I would have used them.

Just thought someone would know.

I will buy a spring balance next time I am in the city or take the engine down to the town (15k) and put it on the pharmacy scales.

You could use a plank as a balance beam, put the motor at one end and add mass (water in a bucket that has litres marked on it) to the other end. Measure the distances from the fulcrum and multiply the distances by their mass to give you the mass of the motor.

Motor mass x distance to fulcrum = mass of water x distance to fulcrum

Motor mass = mass of water x distance from bucket to fulcrum / distance from motor to fulcrum

I do not know the weight, but do know they are heavy...
