interchangable parts between TYmono and TYZ 250's

Featured Replies

Pretty much the only interchangeable parts would be the tyres and front mudguard ?

They are completely different in engine, gearbox and chassis.

Front wheel spindle

Front wheel (Pinky)

Front brake (Pinky)

Forks and yokes sort of interchangeable but need to change the stem to a TY Mono one as the forks are larger diameter

Air Filter

Probably some other odds and ends too.  Mudguard and mudguard brace are different on the TYZ as the forks are different.

Kictstarts & gear levers

Front master cylinder and throttle

Clutch perch

Levers

Speedo, cable and drive

Lights

Air filter cage and strap, foam filter

Petrol cap

Rear swingarm rear sprocket plastic guard

are interchangeable

Maybe Alloy TYZ swingarm, with some mods, possibly shock too, with mods

So, completely different bottom end?

Clutch plates?

I was always under the impression the TYZ was pretty much a water cooled top end on a TY Mono bottom end.

Even the side cases look similar-ish....

Then again, i've never seen one in the flesh nor had a motor on the bench....

Was wondering that, myself, hence asking the question...............certainly generator cover looks (and here I'm  like thai-ty having never seen a TYZ in the flesh) he same,

Also was interested that the monoshock unit wouldn't fit, but looking at the swing arm unit on a TYZ (via good ol ebay) I can see they are different.

Again hanks to all who've replied

Andy

The TY250Z motor is based on an early 1990s YZ250 motor. The TY250 air cooled mono motor is based on an early 1980s YZ250 motor.

They started with a clean sheet of paper for the TY250Z but did use the pinky front wheel.

Pretty sure the 250 mono engine was based on the yz490?

The size and weight of the crank would make one think so... the term bulletproof is a perfect fit for the bottom end of this motor.
