Thank Q Guys. From an acorn does a might oak tree grow. My son (10yrs) & I went on an experience day at Inch Perfect in Lancashire. We used 2 electric trials bikes which I hadn't expected to be as good as they were. It's a different"bike ride' than I'm used to but an excellent new sport to do with children 10 yrs upwards. I'm looking at bikes though and which road to follow being Enduro, trail or Trial. I was supprised on the quietness of the  electric bike (battery life) as opposed to the Castro smell (thrill) of combustion engine.

For you to spend time with your son, trials makes the most sense.  And it's a sport that electric power is ideally suited to.

Trail riding with a 10 year old puts you in legally dubious territory.  Enduro is fast, aggressive, noisy, and you don't exactly have opportunities to stop and chat.

Also, if he takes to it, trials equips you with superior motorbike skills for enduro and safe trail riding at a later date :)
