April 18, 20224 yr Hi guys, I’ve been working hard at restauring a nice ty175B 1975 and after cleaning the carb and changing piston rings, i still can’t get any power after first gear. But if i take off the air filter, I get enough torque to shift and I have great acceleration. What should I do ? I was thiking maybe a mikuni carb fixing kit, new seals and gaskets ?
April 19, 20224 yr Have you removed and decoked the entire exhaust system? How much oil have you used in the air filter?
April 19, 20224 yr Just to add, if the air filter is over-oiled you can fix it by putting it between paper towels and running it over with a rolling pin a lot ... I always feel the urge to use too much oil! (same as with shampoo, washing-up liquid, etc, lol)
