May 22, 20242 yr Can old Sherpas be registered for road use in the UK? I guess with frame and chassis numbers a logbook can be requested, I have a lighting coil so could easily fit on a set of high/low front and rear/stop lights. Cant imagine an old Sherpa 250 would be great on the road except for short runs to get to the trails but it would save having to trailer it about. Any thoughts on if you can get them road legal or if it's just daft?

January 8, 20251 yr Hi Halfway, Not sure how far you've got with this. I brought a lovely original model 124 out of a private collection in Northern Ireland back to the UK. The bike hadn't been taxed since 1977 or registered in the UK mainland. DVLA were great, and sent an engineer to inspect the bike FOC. Only took a few weeks from sending the info in to DVLA with the correct form completed (V5 request) as well as possible. I now have a V5C in my name and showing me as the first owner. Result!! If the bike has never been registered and you want an age related plate, I think you have to first get a dating certificate from The Vintage Motor Cycle Club Ltd. I only have to decide now whether to get everything polished and sort the chrome out before I compete on it, or ride it as is.
