August 6, 200620 yr Hi,during the trial today,i noticed my brakes did,nt have the same bite as usual.I dont think i got any grease/WD40 on rotors or pads,so was wondering if the pads/rotors have glazed up?Iwas going to sand the pads and put a bit of heat [blow lamp] on the rotors.Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks
August 7, 200620 yr Try cleaning the rotors and pads with an arisol "brake cleaner" from the auto supply! Wipe the rotors clean with it on a rag or towel! Sand the pads lightly! It will disburse any most any oily matter that may be the problem. Then get them good and hot and splash with water! Good luck! Edited August 7, 200620 yr by copemech
August 10, 200620 yr Author Just done what was suggested, plus heated up the pads with blowlamp and they caught light so must of been contaminated with something flammable .Anyway it worked a treat -Now how do you do a stoppie?
August 11, 200620 yr Blowlamp... Yikes! The suggestion to heat up your brakes meant to ride around dragging them for a minute or so, then hose down. Works great.
August 12, 200620 yr Easy, Load the pegs downward, then jump up while applying the front brake and pushing down and forward! You will go over the bars while everyone watches!
