    Sherco Problems

Bit of an update on this one for anyone who comes across the thread. Turns out it was the stator that had died. I would like to give a massive thanks to Tony for his kind offer to give me his stator, I will get another new one off Splatshop to return to him so I am back riding even quicker than anticipated. Also thanks to everyone for chipping in on the thread so far, lots of helpful people here and that is mirrored by the people I have met so far too. As a newbie to the trials world all the support is fantastic and has encouraged me a lot. So now the bike now runs better than it ever has, starts first kick so shall look forward to getting back out there and continuing to learn. Cheers! Aaron

    Sherco Problems

I just checked splatshop for the stator that is sitting in my bike at the moment and this is the one I have. I am starting to wonder whether my 09 is actually something else? It was advertised as an 09 though.... I did think it was a little odd as this is what is in the bike now: http://www.splatshop.co.uk/sherco-leonelli-stator-assy.html yet when I searched Splatshop for an 09 stator they looked quite a lot different. Im a little puzzled, although Tony if your one looks the same as the link above then it will fit my bike. Cheers Aaron

    Sherco Problems

Thanks very much Tony! PM sent, I am also based in Palmy myself. Look forward to hearing from you. dadof2 - Thank-you for that information. I was a bit skeptical on my friends advice, and much prefer the advice of those on the forum. Great to know, I am new to the world of trials and this is my first motorcycle I have owned so learning about things slowly. Cheers for that!

    Sherco Problems

Will go digging in there a little more and then if things aren't looking good will then look at getting a new stator. I am based in New Zealand and wondered whether the exchange stator deal exists for those outside of the UK? I am more than happy to shoot my one to the UK if they do international shipping on the exchange ones. Thanks for the help guys, seems like it must be the stator as the cdi is brand spanking new so I presume the lack of spark could be the stator on it's last legs. A friend mentioned to me that the stator doesn't have anything to do with the spark on startup (I am not at all technical so am relying on advice and info on this issue), and wondered whether this advice had any truth to it? I would expect that a dud stator would indeed mean the bike won't go. If anyone can set me straight on this would be great too. Cheers! Aaron

    Sherco Problems

Hi everyone. I have a 250 2009 Sherco and have had issues with the bike. I was in the middle of an event and the bike refused to start after the lunchtime break after riding no worries for the morning loop. I checked the wiring in the bike and found that the CDI was in a bad way so I ordered a new one and fitted it to the bike. It was getting fuel and air so thought with a new CDI it was spark and that would fix the issue. I wired it all up and kicked the bike, it started and ran so thought that adjusting the carburettor would have it purring nicely and I would be back out riding. Tonight when I went to do this the bike ran great, then after it was warmed up and taken for a quick run up the street it died again. I have taken the sparkplug out and check for spark, it is once again intermittent as it was before with the old CDI installed (we have more spark now than before however). The bike was re-wired up and during this we checked the stator (pulled it off and checked every wire which gave good resistance readings). I am at my wits end and unsure where to go from here as with stator appearing to be fine, and a new CDI the spark shouldn't be an issue. I have been using brand new plugs in it over the last two nights when the bike has been running again. It is mixed on a 80:1 ratio and has also had the carburettor taken off, cleaned and blown out with compressed air Any ideas on what the issue could be would be very much appreciated. Cheers Aaron
