Just wanted to know the general top speed of a trial bike in the 250-300 size. I know they're not built for speed but how fast do you folks go, or have gone and for how long, when one gets to a open strecth on their trial bike?

So the two bikes: 1997 Yamaha TYZ 250 or 1993 Aprilia Climber 280 So many people are bashing one or the other, its a very tough decision. The yamaha is more expensive first of all. The Aprilia is a tank, heavy, bulletproof. Maybe not the best beginner bike? Yamaha is more moden and lighter, less CC, i would think this is better...and you would think the parts are easy to find... however I am getting very mixed reactions to both. -Aprilia heavy -yamaha didnt sell well, is dated compared to Aprilia (really? its newer..) Is the yamaha really behind the times compared to an older Aprilia? Is the Aprilia a better buy all around? more potential, more competitive, e…

Watch out if your looking to buy an E-bay Sherco for Xmas: This would seem to be a year 2000 (Exhaust, rear brake) not 2002......definitely not a 6 speeder either. Could just be a lack of knowledge on the sellers part but that still means it's not what it's touted as:- ????????

Question for the Americans. I'm looking to get a few of the big wooden wire/cable spools for training. I'd like to just use the hub, cut in half as little obstacles. Does anyone know where to source these? Construction companies, city works, utility companies? I've checked Craigslist for freebies but no luck. Any tips greatly appreciated. Thanks! Ryan

Does switching from ajp to bk master cylinder make for a significantly lighter clutch pull? My 2011 Ossa has a very stiff clutch compared to some other models.Anyone?

I will be looking at getting a new bike in the near future & have a few questions. 1. How often do they require a rebuild? (I ride clubman level) 2. Longivity is important to me, which brand will last as well as my TY175? (2 & a half kids & a mortage, it will have to last & be reliable). 3. Which brand will be easy to get parts for in the future? 4. Which brand is best for servicing? 5. European or Japanese engine? 6. Steel or aluminimum frame? ( Is cracking a problem with alloy frames on trials bikes?) Thanks in advance for you imput. Hope this doesn't open a pandor's box Adrian

With the lighter evenings now upon us, i wonder how often do people practise every week? We usualy go out between two and four times in the week, starting around 6.45pm and go home when its to dark to see. Some times in the summer we don't leave untill 10.20. If there isn't a trial we would do about 4 hrs on Sat & Sunday, our lads practise hard, we have catchers, and reqular trips to the hospital. We are lucky enough to have lots of lads with simular abilitys in our area, and this makes practise so much more interesting Sam Conner told us the top boys do about 2hr per day.

Well, last Sunday (18th) marked TC's every chatty Stu's last ride here in HK.....for now any way...until he comes back for a visit. We through a bash for him in the best way we know, held a competion followed up by a BBQ. Had some great prizes for the top 3 places which were so kindly sponsored by r2wtrials & Bubble Productions. It was an open class event & Stu got a well deserved 3rd place, in extremly difficult muddy conditions .....perfect practice before he starts riding back home.....(hope its ok to mention) there's a full report with pics on r2wtrials site. Stu's going to be dearly missed by all here , he's done alot for Trials in HK with his overwhelming…

I have always owned GasGas 2 stoke trials bikes and am now considering a Beta Evo 4 stroke. Are the 4 strokes a pain in the rear for maintaince? The gasser 2 strokes rarely gave me trouble. Does anyone know if the betas valves or timing need a lot of maintaince or are they usually reliable without a lot of fuss. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
