General Trials Talk

General discussion on the sport of Observed Motorcycle Trials

  1. Started by juzz80,

Today went out for the first time ever on a trial bike and I LOVED IT :-). Was really boggy but managed to keep bike in control, went up some banks that I thought I'd never manage to get up on a bike. After a good day I only came of once which I did think was to bad. So now I'm counting down the days till I'm out next :-). Of to Eastleigh tomorrow to watch some trials so will properly get the bug and be out somewhere tomorrow night.... Looking forward to many more years of riding

Hello everyone. I bought a pitbike recently and thinking to set up on it 14"/17" wheels instead of 12"/14". And i have an idea put trials tire on rear rim to increase traction. But i cant find any 14" trials tires in Google. I was wondering - maybe something from 50cc trials bikes will fit? ...just found specification of GasGas 50cc - rear wheel 14" and Michelin tire on it. Anybody know where i could order it? Thanks.

Not specifically trials related but im hoping someone can help. I am thinking of modifying my klr 650, puting on a custom subframe and exhaust ect. For a younger rider does anyone have an idea how much of an effect it may have on insurance? Cheers

I ran my bike down the road about a mile at 25 mph (~40.234 kph) and back to warm it up before changing the oil. By the time I got back the front brakes had heated up and nearly brought the bike to a stop. The brake lever would not compress and the disk had started to turn blue. These are one year old APJ's. I loosened the lever to make sure that the piston had full range. I changed the brake fluid after the brakes cooled and things went back to working. The shoes are not worn. This may have happened before as I smelled something getting hot after riding the trail to a new section. The bike sat long enough for the brakes to cool before riding the section. I didn…

Not wanting to revisit the much talked about issue of Fantic frames with cracks / movement at the steering head, as that as been covered many times previously. The lower frame tubes under the engine are also prone to bending and in some cases flattening slightly against the underside of the engine cases - see attached images. The two images are of two different bike circa 1984. Both have been hit from underneath, and then hammered from above to allow access to remove the casing. I believe most Fantics were fitted with a plastic sump guard originally. Looking at images of refurbished bikes, none of them have this issue, and the engine cases are well clear of…

I have a 2005 Scorpa 175. It has a Morad rear rim that from the outside has the same profile as other bikes I've seen with tubeless tyres. It doesn't have a rim lock, but it has an inner tube and tube type tyre on. Thinking that the previous owner had put a tube in to stop it leaking, I have bought a new tubeless rim tape and tubeless tyre. I was told that the rim tape locates in two grooves in the rim, but my rim doesn't have those grooves. Does this mean my rim is a tube type? Or did older rims not have the grooves? Thanks for your help.

Hi Folks! I just wanted to suggest a bearing company to you all incase you ever (or when) you require some in the future; Chelmer Bearings Ltd - Tel: 01245 281218 Sneeky free adverting I know, but I've never seen a service as impressive as this, I ordered bearings at about 5pm yesterday, and they arrived this morning...exactly what I wanted...no hassle. Such as good service deserves the customers, so I feel that its worth you lot knowing about. Regards, matt

Hi, I wondered if anyone knows how to search a specific forum using the search tool rather than the whole "community"? I am sure I used to be able to do this but haven't felt the need until today, when I realised I couldn't. I wanted to read about Beta pistons. Perhaps someone cleverer than I can help?!
