Hi all, while i'm not quite a stranger on here it seems everyone are giving up trials - so i'm after more riding buddies I'm on the Wirral now previously living in Liverpool, used to regularly ride at Nant Ucha or Cowm Quarry and did Beginner route at Frodsham mcc last year. Usually free a couple of times a month for a practice and a trial. Would be good to get riding again. Cheers

Hi Beef706 checking in from NM USA. I'm not new to bikes, or off road, but I got the chance to try a trials bike a couple of weeks ago and my life has not been the same since. So, at the tender age of 55, here I am, brand new at another sport (started raing MX again at 40, playing hockey at 50). I have a new to me, 94 GasGas JT 250, and am having huge fun so far. I joined the local trials club, (NMTA) and they are extremely nice a nd very helpful. I feel a little addicted already, I have finally sound a sport where going slow isn't always bad .

Hi, quick intro: Bought a TY 175 back in early 80s. Played with it and fell off a lot for a few years. Then got heavily into building and sailing classic sailing dinghies, which I still am, see: http://www.cvrda.org/ But with two teenage boys in the family it seemed like a good idea to go pull the TY out of the back of my brothers barn and get it going again. That got me thinking....and looking at ebay....so when a knackered nonrunning Cota 247 came up, I bid and suddenly had a new project. Havn't rebuilt a bike in 15 years so rather rusty (last two rebuilds were a Guzzi and a Ducati). But Cota is coming along....and my riding of TY is slowly getting together....…

Hi All. I've just done a deal on ebay for what I understood was a 1980 Yamaha DT125 Trials bike. After picking up the bike and a bit of investigation it turns out to be a DT175 engine in a hand made frame possibly WES Powys? There are some trick aluminium parts, air filter and exhaust expansion box and fuel tank. Marchoni forks Engine starts easily so I'm happy I've got a good deal. I'm trying to identify the frame builder. Anyone know anything about it? Any info would be useful. Thanks Peter

Hey everybody just dropping by to say hello as I am new to the forum. Just dug out my TY80 from over 10 years of storage and know nothing on what I should do to get it going again so that's why I came here! Hope to learn a lot and share my trials experience.

After reading the forum for a while I thought it was time to say hello. Wrong side of 40. Self employed Motorcycle instructor for last 10 years. Enjoyed trials since my father had James mc many years ago. Currently enoying watching local trials while mates compete. Trying to workout if I would be any better now than when I last owned a TY250 pinky a while back.

Allow me to dive head long into the fray. My name is Marc and I live in Westminster Colorado. After riding dirt bikes and street bike for 47 years, FINALLY just got my first Trials bike. I picked up a nice 1997 Beta Techno from my local Beta dealer and am looking forward to the huge learning experience that now lays in front of me. I promise not to start and Oil or tire threads and behave myself in a proper manner. Well OK that might be hard as I am also an ADVRider. I shall begin the search on this forum to start my learning and then start in with all the silly questions required from a n00b. Cheers. Marc

Hi All Just bought a TY175. Frame number starts with 525 and numbers look like a '76 (Orange and white paint job seems to match this year). But... Engine serial number is 487-000159, which does not seem to work for the model at all? Ideas anyone? Anyway - looking forward to doing some classic twinshock trials on my own bike (rather than borrowing from friends and family). Cheers Julz

Hello knowledgeable ones. If the gear oil is coming out grey and milky after about 6 hours use is that normal. Someone told me it could be river water that's been sucked in, or head gasket or water pump seals. I've come late to trials - the riding is tricky but the maintenance seems a minefield.
