Hi everyone, nice to meet you all. I have finally bitten the bullet after many years of daydreaming and purchased a good 1998 GasGas TX125 CONTACT from a friend. He stopped riding it beasuse of Parkinsons problems. These machines are totally different from the old twin shock TY174 and 250 I used to ride. Does anyone know what the best oil is for this engine? There`s so much conflicting advice floasting around and I can`t seem to find the right answer. My friend just used to get someone else to service it and has no clue what oil was used. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hello Everyone, I just recently returned to trials after having been involved in an on-and-off manner for the past 30+ years. Living in California, the environmental/air quality issues made purchasing a bike that I could ride all year long extremely difficult. I ended up buying an Electric Motion 5.7 and really love it. However, now there are now fewer places to ride and fewer trial riders at the events. Trials seems to be on a very steep decline and I would like to hear your opinions as to why that may be happening. Hello! I’m looking to get back into trials and have a question about a bike. I'm looking at a used 2017 Gas Gas contact 250. The reviews I read mentioned this was the first year gas gas got back into bikes after their bankruptcy. The article said it is a true trials bike but also makes a good trail bike due to the larger tank and removable seat. Any advice on this year and model bike? My main concern is that I’m buying a true trials bike, not one that is modified for trails riding. any advice, input, thoughts, etc are welcomed. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, I'm currently looking at cheap trials bikes to get into it and learn new skills. Most of my riding is done on road with either my Suzuki DL650 V-Strom or my DR-Z400SM. I also have a set of off-road wheels that I put on the DR-Z when I want to do some off road riding. The off road riding is restricted to a few weekends per year when I load it on the back of a trailer, head off to a camp site and then ride around for a day or two with friends before going home. I've also had the Strom off road in Morocco on some TKC80 (knobbly) tyres. Hi folks I'm an old fogey who should probably know better, but I'd like to have a go at trials. I've been attending meetings in Kent, Sussex, Somerset and Devon sporadically for years just to watch, and have always found the sport fascinating - but I've never had a go. Is there any way to try it out first to see if you like it, before spending on a bike/trailer etc? A 'trials school' or similar? I'm in the UK, in Burnham-on-Sea, on the Somerset coast. TIA Barry

hi all i've been lurking around the forums for a few months now for the excellent tutorials and trials tips and thought i'd sign up. i found myself increasingly interested in trials as our mob love to ride tight technical sections on the dirt bikes and try to clear them. so bought a 2011 sherco 290 a few months ago and had about six rides on it now. it's all a very steep learning curve but found it's had a huge impact on the dirt riding already. this vid was my first ride on the sherco 290, and claire's fourth ride on her gas gas 125. definitely confirms our status at trials noobs.

Greetings from the foothills of California. New to trials (been riding dirt/street 40 yrs) and after riding a friends trial bike, I've been bitten. Been watching Toni Bou videos and figure I can at least start my bike as well as him, but that is where it would end. Have rocks on my place that beg to be ridden on so figured I'd have built in practice area. Might get a friend's backhoe over to roll some rocks and obstacles together to built up more challenges at I improve. Hello from North Texas. I've been lurking around here for a couple of weeks and decided to go ahead and join the other inmates. This is a really nice website and I'm glad I came across it. This past weekend I picked up an "experienced" Yamaha twin shock TY250 and I'm looking forward to having some fun with it. About 40 years ago I learned how to ride off road and have done some trials before but it's been several decades past. My riding the past 30 years has all been on the highways. Having said that, excuse me if I ask some simpleminded questions from time to time but I'm willing to learn and this looks like the best forum to do just that.

Just Rode the Glaisdale 40mile trial for 1st time. Guisbrough club did a cracking job - a good old fashioned trial but with routes to suite all, like me. Hope they don't turn it into a national, as the rumour is this is a possibility, it's perfect as it is. Well done to all involved - doing the Wainwright this weekend - bet i dont get such a relaxed ride.

24 yrs ago i bought my 1st bike, a montesa 247 UKR, 2 seasons of trials later the need for speed got me, 1st moto x then enduro then sidecar enduro, a few years pass by and i got back into enduro, I have now sold my KTM300 for a few reasons, 1 the 8 yr old daughter wants to trial on her ty80, 2, I cant recover from the knocks as quickly as i used to, 3, to much cheating and course cutting goes on un challenged, and 4, i want my old montesa back. I am currentley in the process of buying a 348. Hi Just a quick introduction, I have posted in the Oset forum before. Dad to 4 boys. 6yrs, 4yrs, 2 yrs and 1 yr (and another one on the way) We have 2 Oset bikes, a 12.5 and a 16 pro. Been tempted with a bike of my own, but will wait for a short while and get the little ones into the fun first. Regards Andy

New to trials, really having fun with my 07 Sherco 2.5. I have a few ramps and wooden skids set up to ride over and doing ok. Been upside down a few times going over the 4 footsections. Being new to this sport I am having some wrsit and shoulder pain due in part to my age 50+but was wondering if I am doing something wrong to have this pain or is it kind of normal due to the up right riding position? Hello Guys Names Matty, been riding since I was about 4yrs old, started on an Auto Yellow Moto Guzzi, moved up to a TY80 and have a 2003 Sherco 200cc which I have had from new and still looks it! Rode at Guisborough District & Scarborough all my life. Never actually ridden competition, but just enjoy weekend riding! On the lookout for a 2011 Beta Evo 250cc or Sherco ST2 250cc as I have finally out grown my Sherco at 21... Look forward to getting involved!

I've not ridden trials for about 10 years as I was concentrating on enduro but my Nephew has recently been bought a TY80 and a PW50 (spoilt I know ) so I bought a cheap bike to start riding with him and I've found I love it more than I ever did when I was a lad doing it, I used to be far too busy trying to ride my Majesty 200 or my Montesa 311 like a WR250 So the Yam is up for sale and I'm going to get something a little newer and see how I get on.
