I've been riding motorcycles for a few decades now but I don't think I've ever ridden a Trials bike. I have been amazed by the things they can do and now I live in a place with lots more vertical and rocky off road scenery, I believe a Trials bike would be perfect! Before I purchase one I would like to get some recommendations. I'm much more familiar with the Big 4 Japanese marques and street bikes in general. Gas Gas, Beta, Montesa, Sherco.....very unfamiliar to me. What is reliable and easy to get parts for in the US? I'd like to get a nice used bike first. Where would one look for a Trials bike, there weren't too many on eBay or my local Craigslist. I look forw…

Hello all, After more than 40 years of street riding, 10 years of road racing and 20 years of riding dirtbikes I finally bought a Trials bike. Non of my previous experience seems to add up to a hill of beans when it comes to the Trials Bike I'm sure the Trials bike will greatly enhance all my other forms of riding. I have only had it out a few times, mostly trail riding, and look forward to getting involved more with the sport.

Hey guys! I figured I should properly introduce myself! My name is Zach and I'm an 18 year old college student. I picked up a trials bike last weekend simply because I wanted to get rid of my old fire fighter equipment and made a trade; the bike happened to be an old Beta. I am blown away by the torque of these things, it's amazing! Anyways, thanks for the resources and advice to help get mine back on the rugged terrain! Cheers! Zach

Hi folks My names Vic, I'm from County Down in Northern Ireland. Thought i'd sign up here, see whats happening and seek help when needed. I've had my Fantic for over 20 years. Its a 212cc (I believe its the 241 model.) Its always been a trusty workhorse, providing many hours of entertainment and a LOT of abuse! Thanks Vic.

Hello, I live in the NW corner of the NW State and it's a fairly lonley place to be a trials rider... It's a bit suprising really as the weather is terrible, wet and cold. It's perfect for trials riders! I am a new dirt rider but have done some dual sport riding. I'm old enough to not want to experience the thrill of a flying thru the woods with my bike no longer beneath me. I learned that should be a goal on my first choice for a dirt bike. I bought myself a new KTM 300 XC-W - oops. What a great bike! I took a class from Chris Birch and asked - What do I need to get from a street rider to a dirt rider? He and the Vancover Island Trials Champ both said - practica…

Hello from the blistering hot desert of Southern California! I just picked up my first trials bike. I wasn't entirely sure what I bought, but from my highly scientific research method of Looking at Pictures on the Internet, I have decided that I have a 1991 Fantic 309. I will soon be bombarding the Fantic thread with stupid noob questions such as "Why won't it start?" and "What gearbox oil is best?" For now, here are a couple photos of my fairly knackered little bike:

Hello All, Been lurking for some time and just found out that I could now join with my gmail address. Been riding motorcycles forever, dabbled (and dabbed) with trials for a few years in the seventies and have rekindled the passion. I figure the '80's bikes are high tech compared to where I left off and have recently developed a serious addiction to Fantics. I've gathered a lot of info from this forum and thought it was time to contribute whatever small bits I can to the group. Thanks Wayne

After about a 30 year hiatus, I am getting back into Trials. Things sure have changed since I used to compete back in the early 80's. I am afraid I may be a bit long in the tooth for to learn the new style of riding. However, I hope to compete in vintage events in the Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee area. At the moment I am rebuilding a basket case Kawasaki KT 250 which was given to me. Years ago I started on Yamaha TY's then switched to Bultaco Sherpa-T's. I had the opportunity to do a bit of riding in Ireland and Cornwall year's past. Looking forward to participating in the forum.

Hello to all members. I'm looking to purchace my first mototrial bike in the coming spring so i figured a forum would be the perfect place to start researching what to look for. I've ridden bicycle trials for 12 years or so but I'm looking to try something different. I used to ride motocross in my teenage years so I'm hoping the transition from pedals to engine won't be too difficult. I look forward to creeping on the wealth of info I'm sure this forum contains. Cheers, Rob.
