hi all, I used to ride trials from a very young age to when I was 13. mainly rode with Mansfield maun, north debyshire and also ymsa. Went onto motocross for a few years then racing downhill mountain bikes. I had a big crash 5 years ago and smashed one shoulder to bits needing a full reconstruction and 10 weeks ago done the other shoulder now. So 4 operations in the last few weeks and I'm into recovery now and cant risk racing anymore. And we had been talking about starting trials again before the crash so now I cant wait to start again. Will be picking up a 15/16 beta in the next week or so and getting everything ready for when I can start riding again. …

Hi folks, a mate has been trying to get me into Trials so I had a first go this weekend in a field and going slowly around a tyre. We're both beginners, me more so. He's bought a ~2008 GasGas 280. To cut to the chase, my throttle control wasn't so good and when I stopped relying on the clutch I ended up chucking it in a hedge. We'll be looking for a 125 or easier 250 to learn on but in the short term, where's my best bet for sourcing a replacement used clutch cover? Managed to crack it! Thanks and hello, Des

Hello, just recently bought a 2013 sherco 290, I was ideally after a 250 but nothing was coming up local. I rode trials a wee bit about 17 years ago until 9 years ago but then got too busy with work & general life. I also rode the SSDT & retired due to a mechanical so that scunnered me a wee bit. Enjoying getting back out now with a few local lads & hoping to get back to competitions soon. Wee questions 1) Does anyone know the paint code for the 2013 sherco? Few scuffs & I fancy tidying the bike up a bit. 2) Do boyosen reeds make a difference? Smoother? 3) Will I notice much difference with an Ohlin rear shock? …

Hi there, im Tim, im new to the trials scene, just bought an 03 scorpa sy 250 to play about on and practice bike handling for the motocross and enduro racing i do. any riding hints and tip would be great, and maintainence advice? i just took the air filter out (which looks to contain half or wales) and cleaned around the air box and in the air box. ive dropped the gear box oil and put some motorex light oil in there. im a bit stuck with the sump drain bolt as its seized in and had to drain the sump from the side under the gear shifter, is ok to drain the oil like this every time or should i get the sump bolt removed? im going to strip the carb sometime this week and cl…

Hello all, not planning on competing with my new to me Wassell but thought I'd share the info. I have a 1974 Wassell Trials that I just purchased with 198 original miles. The bike was in a shop here in Northern Ontario Canada from 1974 till 1987 when the owner passed away in a plane crash. The second owner purchased the bike and only took it out once a summer for fun. He had the thing in his living room from 1987 till 2009! I purchased it today and can't wait to get here running:) Wish I could load a pic, Perry

Afternoon folks, Came across TC while searching for trials clubs in Lancashire. I've got an 11 year old son who races a small wheel 85 motocross bike who I can't keep up with and at 43 years old, I don't bounce very well any more so we decided that it would be fun to ride trials together. Just bought the boy a Beta 125 Evo last week and already we have to take it away with us when we go racing, just on the off chance that there are some giant cable bobbins in the middle of the paddock (Exhibit A) and our tiny back garden is now a turn track (Exhibit B ). Looking to get myself a Beta 250 in the next couple of weeks when the right bike comes along. I've been told by peo…

Hi the names Bob I'm in Somerset England , I was helping a mate at work build a bsa bantam trials bike in the workshop I finished up buying the bike taking it home and finished it off over the next few months ( about a year ago ). Bike sat in the garage looking pretty but unused until about a month ago I decided it was now or never I had to start trialing. Dropped myself in the deep end a bit, I took the bike to a local MX practice track to see if it all worked ok for a few hours mostly riding off track amongst the trees etc, any way apart from a few minor problems all went well , so the next week (nov 18th) I entered my first trial with no proper practice , just w…

Hi I am new to this forum and I don't know what I doing and hope I am in the correct section !! If not well there you go . I got myself a Montesa Cota 247 and know next to nothing about trials / trail / dirt / 2 stroke bikes . I may annoy you a bit asking simple questions to you but I will be lost . I am doing the front forks now and I have been told 200 ml of 10 wt oil . There was 150 ml in each leg when I emtied them out so I am taking notice of a comment on this forum of 200 ml and 10 wt oil . I suspect that the crank seal's need doing so when I get to that stage I will be yelling out " HELP ME PLEASE " I am in Sydney Australia so maybe there is some one close to …

Hi, me and my old mate kev have been riding on and off road for years (We are now both 56) and have bought an outfit. We entered a trial earlier in the year after a few practices and we were rubbish but had a great laugh. We have not been out for a few months due to a family illness but are raring to go again and are looking for places to practice and a few tips of the trade! All the best Andy.

Hello. I'm yet another trials newbie, and I live near Boston, MA (USA). I've been riding street for many years, and recently started trail riding. Most trails around here are very tight single track woods with lots of rocks and technical sections, so it seemed natural to try my hand at trials. I just purchased a 2000 Montesa cota 315R, and was glad to discover a monty-dedicated sub-forum here. Anyone else here from my neck of the woods?

Hello I have been taking part in Bognor trials events first on my 1983 air cooled JCM 323 and then on my Beta zero 260. Have had a lot of fun on both bikes. This year I entered the BOGNOR REGIS Blue Beards trial for the over 40s. The venue was held at Tullecombe woods Rogate over one hundred people entered. I enter club events as a begginer adult which is the green route which for me i find Challenging. The event was 15 sections and two rounds the section I would rate as being yellow the next one up at our club so for me it was very Challenging but I had such a grate time and will enter next year thanks to all at the Bognor trials club. A good selection of pre 65 b…

I've been into pre 65's for a while although i don't get to compete very often. I did a season of the various Scottish events (but not 'the Scottish') a few years ago on a B40 and I hope to do more this year. Just came across this website so I thought I'd join to help with info on prepping bikes, events etc. cheers Phil
