Just to say hello all. Back to trials after a loooong lay off, last competed about 1976 always rode Bultaco's but decided to go eyetie with a Beta in March - should have done it years ago, forgotten how much fun it was & how friendly the folks are. Any other old gits on here may have ridden with me years ago - my dad used to own "Netherthorpe Wood" near Worksop where the now defunct (as far as trials are concerned) Worksop & Retford clubs held trials. Hope to see some old faces at the trials - seen some already - strangely most seem to have become "follicularly challenged" like me - and we didn't wear helmets back then so can'y blame that. Ade

Since I was a teen in the 80's I always wanted to do trials. In the 90's I met a trials guy at the speed skating club and got me interested again. Never got to do it in the 90's as I was living in NYC. Now living in california and trying to get out of riding my motorcycle in the street ,trials is back in my mind. I have lots of questions and will be joining a local club once I move to Sacramento. I m in the process of selling my KTM 950 adventure bike and looking to get a trials bike soon. Cheers, Redster

Hi folks, I have done trials competition in the 80's, (from 1981 to 1988). Then I had a "trialsbreak", while studying and working, .... Now will strat again, do have my very first "real or bigger" Trialsbike left, a Yamaha TY 125, still there could not trade it away all the years because ther where to many good memorys together with the bike. As a real trialsplonker I could get my hands on a bultaco Sherpa 340 in pretty original condition. Both bikes I will rebuild to use at vintage trial competitions and just for playing around, (now with an age of 46 I never will get a master of trials somwhere it's not my intentetion to do so). For the Bultaco I have to some repairs…

Hello, I am very interested into getting into the world of trials (and maybe observed trials competition). I am now a B Class Motocross racer looking for another motorcycle sport to attempt, and trials has very much intrigued me. I am looking to buy a motorcyle shortly (because fall seems to be the best time to buy a motorcycle). I have found several in my area, but are looking for some input. What size bike should I be looking for? I am 6' 1" and weigh 215 lbs without gear (athletic ) How much should I look to spend on a decent bike? I know what a MX bike would cost, but trials seems to be their own market by far. I am looking at a couple bikes here locally and…

Hello all, Im new to the world of Trial bikes and just picked up a seized and abused TY250A last week as a project and finally got the cylinder off the engine last night. So much for a quick lick o’ paint and a carb clean, this thing is going to need a lot of parts and labor. Anyway I’m sure I’ll be asking questions and needing help along the way so thanks in advance and talk soon aidan

Hi, my Name is Mark and I bought my first Trials bike yesterday, an 05 Scorpa SY250. I live in North Yorkshire, near Pateley Bridge and I'm looking for places nearby to practice riding and to learn the basics. I'd be grateful for emails from anyone who lives nearby and/or know nearby places to ride. Thanks, Mark

Hey guys, I'm Ian and i've just joined and i'm from Wakefield. I'm probably a bit old to be just getting into this at 29 but I feel like a new hobby. Despite my first child about to be born mid August. I guess it'll give me a decent escape for the day to de stress I don't have a bike as yet, nor transport and towing eye on car. All will come in time. I am going to start with the bike as I can learn to balance and such before getting out anywhere! I do have a mate who will join me as well but will not have much money for a bike, neither will I to be honest but we will have to start somewhere. I would appreciate any suggestions on bike choice. I'm looking to spend aroun…

Hello all, I've started riding a trials bike (09 Gas Gas TXT Pro 250) this year at age 52 hoping to pick up skills at the very least, enjoy using it as a trail bike, and maybe competing a bit if I like true trials riding. So far I love the friendliness of the bike (low, light) and have not had one hard dump like I've had several of on my enduro. I'm starting to think this may be the safest way to enjoy off road riding.

Hello everybody, thought i would start here as it seems the most logical place. My name is Matt and i live just outside Shrewsbury. I have just come back from a 3yr break away from trials and have just bought myself a really good beta techno. I will be making a few trips to practice grounds and a few abit further away should anyone wish to join me. I cant wait to get back out again on the trials iron. i hope to use this bike for a year or so to get my hand back in and then maybe upgrade again when the time is right. Would love to hear from any other trials riders in the Shropshire area. All the best.......Matt Clarke

Hello, Please allow me to introduce myself, I have been talked into getting a bike from an old mate seemed a good idea at the time. The last time I rode a trials bike I was 15 over 25 years ago.I used to compete almost every weekend with a bit of success around the North West (UK) area I started in D class on a TY80 eventually ending up on a Cota 200 Montesa following in the bootsteps of my Dad. I have got myself a Beta Evo 290 thought the extra cc would help shift the onboard beer storage vessel I seem to of amassed .I cant believe how things have changed the bikes are so light and responsive the brakes even work ! Its funny how time plays tricks on you in my head I kno…

Hi! Re Edinburgh St. Georges Motorcycle club, I think my Father was a member. His Name was A.M.L.Mclean, better known as Laurie McLean, and he was fairly active in the club in the 50's and 60's. He won a lot of stuff, and competed regularly in the SSDT. I wondered if any older members knew of him or the club? He was born and bred in Haddington, but moved to England in the 70's. He still competed in the SSDT till mid 70's, on a Montesa I think. I have a nice old pic of him on a Royal Enfield. Think it was about 1956, SSDT.Just doing a bit of Ancestry stuff. Cheers Calum Maclean
