  1. Where did you find the pink graphics? I see red and blue on the oset website. I just picked up a preowned 12.5 for my daughter and I'd like to "make it hers" this winter. Lots of good tips here!

    Coolant Weep Hole

That link is aawwssuummm! I'm gonna save that one. Thanks. I checked the numbers and it ends in 003645 so I'm expecting to find 2 seals in there. Too bad the bolts are all frozen!! This might take more time than I thought----

That's interesting. When I get home tonight, I'll check the numbers and let you know. ~B

    Coolant Weep Hole

I probably won't have time to crack into this for a couple days, but I'll let you know what I find. 1 seal or 2, and the condition of the shaft. I'm gonna email right now and find out how long to get parts. ~B

it does look like 2 seals in the diagram, but I'm having a hard time with it. Looks like a seal on each side of the case, but I've never been in there before. If I have time tomorrow, I'll rip it open and have a look, and let you know how it goes. Had a blast today. Brought plenty of fluid with me and it seems to be leaking abour 16oz. of afreeze per tank. I can almost live with that!

Just razzin about the screw. But I'll be sure to bring some extra green juice for the rad!!

    Coolant Weep Hole

Kinda what I was thinking. I've had the bike for a couple years and just started riding it this year, and the fella I bought it from didn't ride it much. Could be from sitting around for so long. Sherco's website has a great parts manual that shows 2 seals. I've never changed these in a bike before--is it a bugger of a job? I'm riding tomorrow so maybe I could jam a small screw in the hole with some permatex tonight............yeah, that'll work!

Got the 01 running nice, timing seems good, but I'm slowly losing coolant through a weephole in front of the water pump. Anyone had this problem?

    Flywheel Puller

Always check the basics! The hose clamp to the reed cage was loose and actually hanging. I'm going to replace it and see if that might have been the problem. The carb checked out fine, and I think the timing will be all set. Live and learn! ~B

Thanks guys. I'll be diving into it this week

    Flywheel Puller

I haven't opened her up yet, but I was wondering if anyone knew if I need to purchase a bike specific (2001-290) flywheel puller, or if one of my buddies pullers will work. I'd like to check the timing on my bike because she seems to get hot. (bike is new to me) After riding a while, she pings when I whack the throttle, and I also checked the plug and it's got a very light color glaze on the insulator. Thanks, Brian
  12. Thanks for the fuel and exhaust gaskets Jareth. I'm going to take your advise and pull the carb and get some numbers from the jets next. I'll be out and about in a couple more weeks. Just winding down the summer with the kids. Work around the house can wait. Dan, you were just teaching me correct bail out procedure. Thanks for the tips and sharing your years of experience! ~B
  13. Dan, I think we met a week or 2 before the event. We were playing on a small hill that I couldn't get up without looping out just before our lunch break. Kept landing on my a***. I met Jareth, Joe, Ron, Sonny, and Stu as well. A good lot. Hope to see them soon. ~B
  14. Matt, if I ever get across the big pond, I'll look you up!
  15. Hi All, I've had a 2001 Sherco for 3 years now and never really rode it. Might have run 2 tanks of gas through it in my backyard. (must have been a good 20 minutes worth) I have a KDX and have done a few enduros, but I'm not one of the hardcore bunch. C senior midpack rider if I even finish. I own a small business, have 3 small kids, and really can't afford to whack any more trees like I did last year. I mussed up my knee last September (that's right, a year ago) and if I don't pay attention, I'm still limping around. Anyway, (Can you tell I my fingers move right along on this thing) I helped a bit setting up for the Berwick national 2 weeks ago (ok, I cut the stakes for the ribbon and asked a lot of questions) and I gotta tell you, I was hooked. Not just for the riding I got to do when the work was done, but the people I met were great. All accomplished riders, and every one of them was helping me along with whatever knowledge they could pass along. Not just me, but I noticed there were no riding secrets between anybody. Everyone there wanted to see everyone else improve and do their best. The weekend of the event, I parked my camper at the nearby campground, and took the family to watch the event. My wife was amased at what some of those boys could do, and even started recording some of them. My oldest daughter and her friend that was with us had me set up an obstacle course for their bicycles back at the camper! I think everyone had a great time. Because of work and family, I don't get to ride often enough, but I gotta say, since Berwick, I've been on the Sherco 4 or 5 times a week in the yard, even if it's for 15 minutes, and burned more fuel in two weeks than in two years. It's the end of summer and I've got 2 more camping trips planned with the family, but I can't wait to get back out there. Brian
