    Cracked Airbox

I Agree - you can repair them using a combination of glue and aluminium collars..but the bottom line is sadly they are cr4p and will most likely split again
  2. Hi - Thought I'd let you all know that I managed to fix the problem without changing the source coil I removed the flywheel and the stator plate took all the coils off and cleaned everything thoroughly including the wiring harness connectors. Put it all back together and she started first kick Note that the source coil resistance is still only 180 ohms instead of 240ohms so if you experience a similar reading it doesn't necessarily mean that the coil needs replacing Restore nearing completion now - will post some photos in due course
  3. Hi - I would like to try another source coil on my TY250 to see if it cures my starting woes (The resistance is reading 180 ohms instead of 240) Does anyone happen to know if another model of source coil would fit or does it have to be the exact one Its got a lighting coil fitted which I dont use..would this be worth trying ? Or would the source coil from a TY250 twinshock do Any suggestions much appreciated
  4. Hi - I certainly didnt have to use any force - it just dropped out. Have also just replaced it and again it fitted into place without any effort Have you had any luck getting yours out yet ?
  5. Hi I assume you have also removed the rear shock assembly? If so the swingarm should just drop out. Getting the pivot shaft out is usually the hard part. I removed mine just the other day so let me know if you are still having problems - I'll try to help
  6. Dear members - any advice on this topic would be much appreciated I'm getting an inconsistent and weak spark on my TY250 R Mono. The manual says that the Source Coil Resistance should be 240 Ohms (+ or - 10%) I'm getting a reading of 177 Ohms which is outwith the tolerance level 1. Does a reading of 177 Ohms indicate a problem significant enough to impact starting / running 2. If yes - is replacing the source coil the only solution or is possible that I could repair it Have removed the flywheel cover and there is evidence of dampness and corrosion - so have dried it out and sprayed with WD40. Anything else I should check ? (All other resistance readings are fine) Thanks in anticipation
  7. Thanks Charlie Given that it always started and ran fine when it was warm does this still suggest it could be the crank seals? Have you replaced a set before..is it a big job or not too bad ? I'd hate to go to all the trouble of doing this only to find it wasn't needed. What about the reed valve. could this cause cold starting problems?
  8. Hi I would really appreciate a few pointers to help me figure out what to try next Got standard TY 250 Mono which was running fine (albeit it was always a bit hard to start from cold) It ran out of fuel and now I cant get a cheep out of it I've stripped and cleaned all the carb jets a couple of times - all clear. Float etc all seems OK Emptied the tank and put new fresh fuel in it (I've done this twice - the current fuel doesnt even have any 2 stroke to see if it helps starting Fitted a new spark plug Getting a consistent blue spark when kicking it over Fuel is getting to the spark plug Compression seems fine Given that it was running fine I'm reluctant to start stripping it down any further Just hoping another member may be able to suggest what I should try next Any suggestions much appreciated Pete
