  1. I got one from Fowlers. Not cheap though, 40 to 50. Also got one off ebay, thought I was getting it cheap but it was in Japanese! Depending on what your after i could take a photo or 2 and email them.
  2. Hi. That's my old bike. I sold it to a bloke in derby about 3 year ago. I had the frame powder coated but its not quite the correct shade of blue but looks alright. It looks like the mudguards have been change as when I saw it on ebay advertised by the guy I sold it to it was as I sold it with blue front and white rear. I ran the bike for 3year and never let me down once. I've got a Tyz now which has the same engine. Just recently rebuilt the engine, do not separate the head from the barrel as that gasket is 80quid! The main bearings from Yamaha are quite expensive so I just went to a bearing shop and got exactly the same for 20 quid the pair. When your in there you might as well do the crank seals, they are not expensive for genuine yam ones. Have fun.
  3. In theory no D14/4 speed gear box should be allowed in the Scottish as these were manufactured after 1965, late '66 I believe. Only 3 speed boxes were made prior to '65 in the D7 motor. Don't why later motors are allowed, probably like a whole host of other mods the blind eye has been turned from. So mod away. Blue printed barrel polished and ported, 185cc piston, George Todd ali head, modded clutch, smaller primary gear and probably much more.
  4. Think that's the Mont 315 that have those pistons. Apparently there its no over bore size pistons as the barrel is chromed. So maybe I might be able to put some rings in if the pistons not too worn.
  5. My thinking is that if I take out the barrel to 1st over size them I'm presuming I'm going to have to have it replated anyway. So why not go up to 270.
  6. Hi. Just wondering if anyone has done the 270 conversion to the engine that is in the TYZ and the SY Scorpa. I take it the barrel will need boring and replating. Is there any noticeable difference and do you need to fiddle about with the carb much? Just wondering as to buy the 270 piston is probably as much as buying first size up from standard piston. Cheers.
  7. Unfortunately most of the pocket venues that the BTC are run in will have to the sections manufactured to a cirtain degree resulting in sections that don't flow thus not lending its self to no stop. The ACU went back to no stop then they also have stated that several of the big nationals be used as rounds of the btc. Big mileage single laps with sections more often than not in flowing steam beds. I know it wouldn't be quite as simple as that but you get the idea.
  8. Thanks again. I take it when measuring the air gap I have the leg extended and the spring out? Once again thanks for the info.
  9. Hi Woody. Thanks for the quick and informative reply. I just have one question. If when you fill the leg with oil for a second time to the top is it to be in the compressed position? If it were extended position and filled, on the first compression would the oil not spill out. A bit confused, but then it doesn't take much! Thanks once again.

    Tyz Fork Oil

Hi all. I'm going to freshen up the forks on my TYZ, strip them down and give them a good clean. I have a manual but its in Japanees (got it off ebay and the bloke still selling them dispite my complaining so dont buy one) so have no idea what weight fork oil to use and how much in each leg. Also should i put a different weight oil in in relation to my weight to make a differance? (16st) Thanks in advance for any help or info.
  11. Could be the valve stems and or the the valve guides that are worn letting oil past down into the bore. Dont think either the valve or the guide will be too expensive and their striaght forward to do.
  12. Hi all. Just got a TYZ and the chain and sprockets need replacing. I was just wondering what the standard gearing was. Or if anybody can remember that far back if they altered either the front or rear sproket size for better gearing in sections. Cheers
  13. Your not supposed to as it could damage the electrics.Dropping the engine out and disconnecting the electrics cant take the long just for piece of mind. Better taking an hour longer than having to fork out brass for something you could have prevented!
  14. Hi. Going on Post Hill to walk round tomorrow and plot out the sections for Boxing Day. We're going to aim to make them rideable no-stop but with the rules being as they are for this trial stop is permitted and ride them as you want. There are only 2 courses and maybe it will be a little hard for your first trial but dont give up on your first lap as sections generally get easyer the more they are ridden. There will be a few harder sections to sort the top riders out but anything you dont fancy just ask for 5. If you do find it a little hard then dont let this put you off riding our club trials as they are a lot easyer. Hope to see you monday.
  15. I dont really see why all these so called 'top' lad are so dead against No-stop. They will be able to adapt thier riding skills to the system much more easily. As for me, a mere clubman, struggling up streams and rock steps only to sump out and stop. A five, no complaints. The old stop rules favoured me as I could get a foot or more than likely 2 feet down and lump the bike over said obsruction with a loss of one or two. Where as the better rider floats over the rocks and holes that I hit. As for observing I do think that if the observer is the same across the board with every rider then there is no issue. To me if a rider is asking what they got then they know themselves that they have made a mess of the section. If they argued the fact then they would be reported to the CofC to have them diqualified. Observers are far more valuable than any rider, no matter who they are. Having said that, the rider has the right to post a complaint with the CofC at the way a section is being observed. Much better that than having a go at someone giving up thier time to stand in the cold to make our sport possible.
