Ha ha. Top rant and I can't help but agree with the bloke.

Hello,
Anyone got any idea where I can buy a seat and auxiliary fuel tank for a Gas Gas Pro? Or can I buy a proper long range fuel tank?
Cheers,

The website for the MOT testers manual is here:-

I think it depends upon the year as to whether you can have a bulb horn or not (1st Jan 1973...maybe). It'll say on the website. Not sure that you need a reflector either if you have no lights.

Yeah I saw that. He wasn't a happy chappy, was he. The crowd cheered when the Observer removed the rock.

Thanks indeed. A top weekend but was I glad to have a shower and hit the sack when I got home. Heath waking up at 5:30 on Saturday morning to fire up the BBQ didn't help much.
Great to put some faces to names too although it was well into Saturday before I sussed that Brad, who I was talking to on the Friday night, was Lastplacebrad.....

I just about learned to ride a unicycle years ago. I could go quite some distance before it all went wrong. The way I learned was to have a mate with a broom shank that I held onto (just one hand). This gives you something to push and pull against while your body figures out how to do it. You don't ride a unicycle in a straight line - its a seies of curves and you have to use your backside and upper body to steer/balance. While your butt is turning left your upper body is turning right. Top fun though. I found a hard surface easier to ride on but a soft surface was much easier to land on And I padded the seat cos it hurts if you come off the back - and I ain't talking about when you hit the deck...

Steve,
I've had the bike a month but only been out on it twice so far. I feel like my balance is improving and I can lift and place the front or back wheel without falling off a lot better than I could. Just need time on the bike and to watch a few good riders to see what they do.

Steve,
I'm 39 and have just bought a BT Raven 4.0 off Evil Bay. I had an Onza T-Bird a while ago but lack of time means I'm still a beginner.

Sounds like you have the top end off - can you feel any up and down play in the conrod? A knocking noise could be a goosed big end.

I'd be interested too. I'm in Swindon near J16 of the M4.

Both R2W and I know it to be true as we have both had the pleasure of viewing the inside of my 2003 Pro engine. To be avoided...

Another good reason to get it sorted is that the gearbox oil lubricates the main crank bearings. Not cheap to replace and you'll have to dismantle the whole engine.

Hello Bill,
I wasn't too keen either. I'll grab one next time I go up there. probably do a bit more wombling as well.
See ya,

There was a lot of rubbish. We ended up with three bags full.

C'mon boys - read the first post again...

Rich,
I was told recently that there is a place called Petit France which is near Malmesbury. I can't find it on the map though. Does anyone know where this is and whether its legal?
I live in Swindon and usually drive up to Kilkenny near Cheltenham for a practice with the rest of the R2W crew (in fact we were up there today). Check out http://r2wtrials.com/ to see what we're up to.

Matt,
Yes you will have to split the cases to change the crankseals. Main bearings aren't expensive so why not change them as well while its apart. I'd check the gearbox bearings and the condition of the cluster and maybe replace worn bearings where necessary and the oil seals anyway.

Matt,
I guess that it depends upon the condition of the bits that you have.
Is the chrome on the bore shagged (deep scores)? If not then leave it alone. If the piston is OK you might just need new rings. Is there any play in the big end (can you move the conrod up and down on the bearing)? Do the main bearings rotate smoothly (even a hint of roughness means they are knackered)? I doubt that you would need to change the conrod unless its bent. New crank seals would be a good idea.
Really its hard to say without seeing the bits but some of the above will hopefully help.

I'd say that you would need to take the engine out. The cases will need to be split and the crank removed before the seals can be changed. Have the seals failed?
Tony
-
A familiar sight....I had my Pro engine to bits before Heath got his hands on it. New seals didn't cure the problem that time. Hopefully the new version combined seals/bearings that Heath fitted will have done the trick. Fortunately the bits aren't too expensive.
Looks like you've got a fair bit of blow-by on the rings. Was it burning a lot of oil before you stripped it? A lot of red gasket goo as well.
Good luck.

You've got me thinking now R2W. I'm not sure that you do need to remove the clutch and crank pinnion to split the cases. The flywheel needs to come off (extractor is about a tenner from BVM) to get to the screws behind it, the cases can come apart leaving all the shafts attached to the drive side crankcase so the clutch can stay attached. You are right though. It comes off easily enough and in one bit.

Theres one on The Bay at the moment.

Keep an eye on your gearbox oil level. My 03 Gas Gas just needed a crank seal. It was burning the ATF in the gearbox. Really smoky but it ran perfectly well.
