  1. Small world! I know Hoddesdon well, used to live in Lord Street for a few months. I also work the Ongar/Brentwood area, right in to Rainham. Not sure where to join really, I'm keen to get going though. I plan to carry out a bit of local 'getting used to the bike' at a friends farm. I need to get my sons TY80 sorted first, so he can join me. Not been on a bike for years!
  2. Yes, single tank/seat. What age do you think? I guess we better move this back to the Yamaha section of the forum. I was just trying to reach the masses in this section, as there must be a 2.50 - 20 out there somewhere.
  3. Hi, yes I had a look, lovely looking TY My sons is all Red for the plastics, does that mean anything? Later of earlier??
  4. Hi John, thanks for the reply. I too have a Pirelli, 2.50 - 20 on the front. Tread good, but side walls falling apart, badly falling apart. It must be due to age. I'll keep looking, the Kempton Park jumble is on the 28th, I've got my fingers crossed that one will be there. I really dont want to go 19" or 21".
  5. Thanks for the replies. The foot peg does fold up, but the kick starter hits the peg mounting bracket, which is fixed. I will have to investigate further. I will post some photos if I get the hang of it. Thanks again, its apreicated
  6. Hi all, the question is in the title....I can't locate one anywhere. I guess they are no longer made?
  7. Hi all, I've tried searching for the answer, but didn't find much, so have started a new topic. On my sons TY 80 Whitehawk, the kick start hits the peg before it has had much of a chance to turn the engine over. Is this right? Luckily it starts second kick, but I don't like that it bashes the peg very hard every time you kick it. Should it have a cranked starter, one that has the swivel at the bottom of the lever, so when you pull the starter out to kick it over, it misses the peg altogether? Hope that makes sense... Is there an aftermarket kick starter that does away with my problem?
  8. Hi John, the link didn't work for me, so can't see your sons bike. It would be nice to see, as I'm desperate to find out what I have bought my son. There seems to be very little on the net when you search for 'whitehawk'. I would be very grateful for the make of your front tyre, i'm struggling to find a replacement. Many thanks
  9. Thanks for the info. I had guessed that the whitehawk conversion came much later. I will hazzard a guess that the whitehawk is much later that the 1975 engine, probably late 80's. All the plastics are red and most I've seen have been white. I am now determined to track down a front tyre, that or change the front wheel to a 19".
  10. Very useful, thanks. I make it a 1975....just the front tyre to track down now. Thanks again
  11. Any ideas as to what year it is from the engine number OXBOY?
  12. Hello to all.... after many years of restoring and driving Series Land Rovers, I have reduced my ownership to one only and have spent most of the raised funds on buying a BSA C15 for me and a TY80 Whitehawk for my son. I plan to get out and about and teach my son how to ride, although its been 20 years since I last had a trials bike! Merry Christmas and a happy new year Dan
  13. Hi there, i'm new to this forum malarky, so if I've posted this in the wrong place, I apologise now. I have bought my son a TY80 Whitehawk that needs a few bits and bobs done before we go out and learn gears on his first ride. I have been trying to locate a 250-20 front tyre, but no one seem to be selling them. Any ideas where I can get them from? Everything seems to be 19 inch, or 21. My searching for 20 inch throws up mountain bike tyres! Also, how do I date the bike? The engine number is 451-107284, but I cant find the frame number as yet. Its not stamped on the headstock, so hope to find it once I get the tank off? Cheers, Dan
