  1. I love this, no bunny hopping, no nose wheelies just heavy bikes and men riding with no helmets or gloves thanks for posting
  2. Good rider for sure, and the lad has a forklift hiding somewhere.
  3. axulsuv, you feel old?, I went to High School with Marland. What does that make me.
  4. tonycrowe, I am in the same predicament, you can find PDF engine manuals at Scorpa but no service manuals online. Please PM me if you can help My project TYZ is all cleaned up but needs some fine tuning to get it right. Thanks
  5. cubik2 I have a '93 and run an NGK BP6ES, if you have a service manual I would really appreciate the correct fork oil amounts. Thanks

    Tyz 250 Project

Updates, bikes all done until I can afford to pick up a new rear mudguard, went to 6.0 Renthals to get better ergos from it. Started right away, pulled some oil from the front forks the 95mm from the top of tube numbers I found in the forums here was way too much oil. I still would like for some one with an actual service manual to let me know the right amount. Wanted to say thanks for all insight and parts leads I received from T.C. members.
  7. Just got my project tyz running and will need to fit taller bars to it, the ergos are terrible for my long legs, I will need to have longer hyd hose and throttle cable, does anyone know a shop?
  8. Woody after re-reading your original post that I found after searching this forum I took your advice from your last reply and cinched them down with a tiedown strap an presto they all came apart thanks for that last bit of knowledge.. now if I can just get my finger to quit bleeding I'll be fine. Hope all is good in the UK it's sunny and 95 in San Diego
  9. Woody I read your instruction only after I had loosened the allen bolt, Yes I was able to pop the seals out by pulling on thee fork tube but they will not come out all the way, almost like they are caught on the bottom fork guide. I removed the cap and springs, tonight my boy had H2O playoffs so I didn't get a chance to reassemble with the springs and caps and compress like you mentioned. This is not my first fork rodeo I didn't know that they were a cartridge type when I started disassembling them .Thanks for all the info
  10. My worry isn't getting the bolts out I would like them to tighten the upper tube so I can refill and ride. I'll retry tonight with the springs and caps, if that doesn't work I'll bring one to my workplace and fab something up to hold the inners.
  11. I used an air ratchet and yes they are both stuck, I tried tightening the bolts with the springs and caps back in and without. Once the bolts were loosened up I was able to get the seals out but not the tubes or rods. I saw a bolg that shows a square tool inserted into the tube over the rod and there is a square opening at the base of the compression rod. I hate to take them to a shop as I have rebuilt many sets of old school and modern forks, these just have me scratching my noggin a bit.
  12. Help please anyone. My project '93 tyz 250 is moving along, but I cant get the forks apart I loosened the allen bolt and was able to remove seals and the fork guide, bought new seals installed them but I could never get the allen bolt out when I was cleaning them and now can't get the fork tubes to tighten back up. I have no manual so if any one has a helpfull ideas I'm all ears.
  13. The handguards were junk, theyr'e off I have guards on my WR for the desert but won't be needing them for riding where I live.

I've read all the same things about them, I just could't let it lanquish. I desert raced a '92 YZ 250 so I'm also replacing the pink with Yammie white. I work in a manufacturing co. so a little work to change the steering lock shouldn't be a problem. If I get this up and running it will keep my two boy's off my Sherpa.

    Tyz 250 Project

Recently rescued the bike from a carport in Tecate, co worker gave it to me. After a thorough washing discovered a rat had ate the filter and lived in the air box for awhile luckily nothing got past the carb. I believe it's a '93 no vin # on eng jus a mdl # on frame so far the insides look good so still waiting for gaskets and have completely stripped from top to bottom. My local Yamaha dealer had never heard of one so parts from them was a nogo. Does anyone still sell the footrest lowering kits? I've read about them. If anyone has any info I would love the help.
