  1. iv recently changed the gearbox oil in my bike and what seemed to be the right amount came out but was very dirty,iv put new in and cleaned everything up then came back to the bike a few days later and its slowly leaking from the underside of the engine (I think the center gasket?) is this common on these bikes? there was definitely no leak in the 1st place.

  2. Iv just got some carbon effect guards for my bike, when fitting the clutch case saver I had trouble getting the o ring gasket to stay in its recess so I smeared gasket paste over it! is this ok to do so? also when tightening the bolts back up they don't really appear to become tight? I did finger tight then quarter of a turn but they still don't seem tight? please help!!!!!!!!!1

  3. I have just bought some carbon look guards for petrol tank and exhaust for my bike and when fitting I realised the the bottom bolt (closest to footpeg) on either side tank/exhaust is different? The one on tank side has a nylon lock nut on the back of it where as the exhaust side just threads through the frame into some silver washer type thingy? Are they supposed to be like this or is one of them wrong?

  4. I just seem to be having one problem after another at the moment with my bike! Iv just had gaskets and seals replaced because it was hunting and high revving! Now I took it out and it was running fine for two hours then the revs started going sky high again! I adjusted the throttle cable and it seemed to have sorted it and restored bike to normal running order but then started cutting out and wouldn't restart unless I put the choke on and I have to leave it on in order to ride the bike?? If I turn choke off it cuts out instantly?!?! I let the bike cool down and it started normally again and ran with the choke off? What could be the cause of all this?

  5. Ive just got my bike back from the mechanic and it wants to ride itself when in gear and the clutch is pulled in? it didn't do this before tho for sure? It only went in for new seals, gaskets etc... and I gave him putoline nano trans to put back in the engine and ice cooler too!! any ideas whats wrong? I have noticed oil around the seal/cap on the clutch reservoir since its come back tho?? I trust my mechanic before anybody thinks its him lol! he used to be a Honda race mechanic etc...

My 2011 st290 keeps revving quite high as if the throttle is sticking but im sure its not, I have noticed a little bit of oil or water (im not sure) coming from the base of barrel at the back towards the carb when I rev the bike? Any ideas what this could be? Does it seem to be common? I am hoping its the gasket or o-ring between engine & barrel but my mate seems to think there a machined part that just sit together??? Or could it be the crank case seals?

  7. The 10th character on my frame number is 9 which means my bike is a 2010 model right?? I was sold the bike as a 2011 model and all the images of the bike I find on google match mine and are 2011 bikes???

Can anybody tell me what colour the standard head should be on a 2011 st290? mine is grey but as you look closely you can see black under it? just from bottom of head from where it sits on the cylinder?? It worries me because the previous owner tells me he used to take the head off to check the barrel for scores and scratches??

  9. Can anybody tell me what spark plug I should have in the 2011 Sherco ST290? The manual says NGK BP5ES, but my bike has a DENSO in it (NOT SURE OF THE CODE), I allways like to use the NGK Irridium plugs if I can in my bikes so does anybody know if these are ok for Sherco's and a code for them if poss thanks.
