  1. Hey Guys, When you say you're from New York everyone automatically thinks NYC. Assure you my home is not in a city of any type. Since most of the state is rolling farm land, mountains and lakes I'm lucky to land right in the best part. Pretty new to trials but not to bikes and motorsports in general. I've raced motocross back in the day and did lots of cow trailing in my youth. I also tipped cones over in autocross, rallycross and even sat in the meat seat of rally cars. In my 40s raced BMX and actually got 2nd in the state (by showing up to events) -was in great shape then. An old riding buddy donated the current toy: an early 90s Beta and absolutely having a blast. I've checked out one trial event and gotten quite a bit of guidance (and boots) from Mike Komer at the Tryals Shop in Locke NY. Hope to meet more trial people this coming year and it looks like entering a trial is a distinct possibility. My secret ninja trials training ground is 50 acres of logging roads, woods, gullys and old weed covered bmx trails. If anyone is in the area I'd love to share my spot. Although currently banned from the woods and gullys part due to hunting season. --T
  2. Thanks guys. Fortunatly I have a Beta dealer within a 1-1/2 hour drive. Also good news that the jets are fairly inexpensive.
  3. Hi Guys, first time poster. Wondering anyone can help me out with my bike. It's a 1992 or '93 Beta TR34 260cc Alp, Long Range. It's air-cooled, Dellorto PHBL, upside down forks. Got the bike from an old riding buddy later this summer and it was sitting in a barn for who knows how long. First thing was to tear apart the carb and replace o-rings, gaskets etc. After getting it all together and fresh premix it fired right up and ran "pretty good". Played around with the fuel screw and idle and it always revved high. Not an air leak type of high rev, but way too high. Especially after going down my dead end road and the tractor path to the woods (up to 4th-5th gear). Opening the choke (up) always clears it up but then when you put it the choke back (down) the revs kept climbing. Made for a really awkward woods ride. Lurching -not smooth and steady. By accident left the choke up and it rides quite perfect. Nice and slow idle with throttle control right where you'd expect, in fact its quite awesome in the woods. Wondering if this is by design? Since the bike has lights, horn and brackets for passenger pegs was it a dual setting (rich/lean) for road and woods/trials?
