  1. Does anyone have advice regarding torque specs for the TY-250A , 1974 bike? currently reassembling after adding electronic ignition would like to know the torque for the flywheel nut. also would like to know after finding TDC what is the optimal advance or retard of the timing. I will be using a strobe with advance degrees on it. Thanks for any help.
  2. Just got the new Electronic Ignition (STK-402L) from Electrex. The old Stator is removed and the instructions say that if you position the plate in the center of the screw holes the bike will run....what I want to know is, is it possible to use a degree wheel to set the timing after you find TDC, or do you need to use a strobe. Second question; how do you adjust the stator plate with the engine running when the flywheel is in front of the plate?.
  3. I don’t know how old they are, or how abused they have been. I don’t know what make they are so I don’t know if they can be rebuilt. If I start with new shock At least I know when they were installed.
  4. Would appreciate any advice on a replacement shock for a 1974, TY250-A....one that I didn't have to mortgage my house and sell my kids into servitude, and where the best place to purchase it would be. I live in the US. Is the most important detail the "eye-to-eye" measurement? or something else.
  5. The springs are black the barrel of the shock Is red, and the air valve is at the center of the lower barrel
  6. I'm new to this site, so if I'm posting in the wrong area...sorry, please advise. My issue is, I'm re-building an old TY-250, 1974, awaiting a new electronic ignition, new throttle cable that replaces the forked one that controlled the oil injector, and a plate to block the old port for the worm gear that drives the oil injector. While I'm waiting, I'm trying to identify the rear shocks that came with the bike. They are definably after market shocks, red in color and have an air stem at the bottom. I have seen these shocks on other vintage bikes. My question is: What is the manufacturer name? Can the shocks be rebuilt? What is the recommended pressure for a 200 lb rider? Lots of questions, but I want to set the bike up correctly.
