  1. Thanks for the reply, That was exactly the problem. I loosened it right off and it bled straight through . I now have some brake pressure but the brakes are still not very good and very squeaky! I tried using some brake cleaner but it didn't really help. Is it an idea to bleed it again?? any ideas??
  2. Hello all, Ive been trying to bleed my front brake on a 1999 txt250 and it's not going quite as planned! Ive tried the normal way of bleeding brakes with no luck, i've also tried reverse bleeding using a syringe which also didn't work. When trying the reverse bleeding the syringe wouldn't compress easily and I gave it a little bit of force and it pushed one brake piston right out . just to note I had pushed both pistons right back in before attempting the reverse bleeding. The lever now doesn't do anything , it comes right back to the bars without any resistance. Im completly stuck on this one so any help is really appreciated !
  3. Hey, thanks for the helpful posts! I dont think im ever going to forget the spring circlip after I re-assembled the first fork and put it back in place then noticed that I'd left the clip off . but its all sorted now and thanks again for the posts. Although I have another problem now, i took the bike out for a 15min spin today and after a while the front wheel seemed really stiff. This resulted in me going across some concrete and the bike going one way and me the other.. It turns out that the brakes are sticking on and once they get hot I can barely move the wheel. After a quick look at the front disc I can see that there isn't all the bolts there should be holding the brake disc on. But there is little movement in the disc. I also noticed whilst removing the front wheel to do the forks that the disc is a very tight fit into the pads. Whats the solution to this? new pads? new disc? new bolts? Im new to this trials stuff and seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot!
  4. I just worked it out after posting this but thanks anyway. I checked the forum and youtube but couldnt find anything that showed the forks that are on the 99 model. Thanks again
  5. Hello, Im trying to do my fork seals on a 99 txt 250 i just got, Ive removed everything and am at the point where I think i should just pull hard on the tube and the seal should pop out with the tube, but it wont, it seems to be really stuck in. The forks I have are the ones with a 3" sleeve on the top of the lower fork tube with 4 holes around it, which im guessing have something to do with it?? any ideas????
  6. Well I got it yesterday and have only had a quick play but it seems great! going to take some getting used to though, getting off a cr250 onto that is a bit different! I paid 600 for it also, but its got a couple little problems- a leaky fork seal and a slightly worn shock bushes but i can't really complain for the price. Does anyone know a decent place on the net for Gas Gas parts? Thanks for the replies
  7. I'm looking at getting myself a trials bike. I've previously ridden motocross just for fun and have done a very small amount of trials ridding and really enjoyed it. There is a gas gas txt250 1999 model advertised locally and I'm just trying to get some info on the bike and how suitable it would be for a relative trials beginner. And also and problems that I should look out for on a bike this age etc?? and also mainly what sort of money I should be paying? Any help is appreciated
  8. well i did the fork seal today and it seems to be fine, which im pretty chuffed about having not done it before! took the thing out for a burn today finally and its the strangest thing coming of a crosser on to that, the novelty of being able to bunny hop a motorbike hasnt worn off yet. The only thing left to try and sort is the wiring. It has lights fitted, but there not wired up, the wiring is there, i think. It also doesnt have a kill switch, anyone point me the right direction? Thanks
  9. Yea thankfully the local beta dealer isn't far away and got them in post yesterday. now i have the problem of the fork seal, do i attempt to do it myself (using a guide i found on this website) or give it to someone who knows exactly what their doing?
  10. Well i bought the bike, it seems in pretty good nick. That was until i got hold of it, deciding to take it home in the back of my esate car as i had to drive a long way to get it, i had to take the front wheel off. When i went to put it back on i managed to snap one of the bolts that tightens around the front axle, joy. i should be able to get a replacement bolt from the local beta dealer shouldnt i? i also found that the clutch isnt quite working, but i think thats because its been sat for while and not used? The head light was an addition i believe.
  11. Thanks for that link, if it measures up to that it will make me a bit more at ease i suppose. Yea i can sympathise with the bloke, but im glad to be on the other end of the bargain for once! my first crosser was a 98` KTM sx125 bought it for
  12. heres a pic ,hope the bloke doesnt mind me putting it on here , says it has 2005 plastics on it. It does have a slightly weeping fork seal on it, thats all thats wrong with it im told. But i will take a very detailed look at it. for some reason i get the feeling that its pretty genuine, mainly because when i rang, he really didnt sound happy about selling it for that price
  13. Yea i do have my suspicions, but thats why i posted this, just to make sure that i don't get a dog. I've been ripped off before and really don't wnat it to happen again! Also, no the bike isn't from bristol . i'm going to look at it tomorrow so if i buy it i will post some pictures etc.. and if i don't thankyou for alerting me what to look for! cheers
  14. when you say about the shock, what am i looking for? weeping from the seal? bushes+bearings are all ok? Thanks
  15. Hello, i have just agreed to purchase a 2003 beta rev 3 250 for
