    What Now?

As promised: God the Tricker and am quite happy with it...handles on tarmac like a pushbike, goes (reasonably) well and even the missus can ride it! Only offroad capabilities are obviously limited. Gravel is fine, deep sand is not, must look out for some knobblier tires. Nice addition to the collection, indeed!

    What Now?

Bought myself a .05 Yamaha Tricker.. haven't even seen the bike but will take possession next Saturday and report back...

    What Now?

Nice try.. would fit nicely with the Fantic200 i already own... for this round I am more after a younger bike. Anyone having experience with the Gasgas Pamperas? Looks like a trials bike and is having a 2nd set of foot pegs.. Not sure whether the seat would allow long rides , tough..
  4. 1.) Put a white dot on the left side of your handlebar ( e.g. clutch base) left=white... 2.) Walk sections start to finish and then finish to start 3.) Think about yourself being the backwheel of your bike ( sounds silly..though) 4.) You will go home with less than the maximum score 5.) Laugh!

    What Now?

After some 10 years doing trials only I somewhat lost contact to the enduro world.. I still think that a xr250 is a good bike but must be the only one... now: What bike do you use nowadays doing the following: goes on the back of a campervan , thus less tha 120 kg has two seats ( the missus wants to come along as well) and is road legal has a bit of grunt to take me through the backcountry... maybe without the missus on the back.., though the DR350 stopped in'99 the DRZ has no 2nd seat... what to do? Still fancy a KLX, but no..it's not legal ( must be getting old caring about this ..) And please, do not recommend a 200 cc chinese bike.. I can still recall riding my XR600... you know, trees coming your way at speed! Cheers, Stefan
  6. Hey prospective TLR buyers.. you realize that the bike is in New Zealand... don't you? Will have a go at the clutch once I stop having the urge to play.. might be a while!
  7. Hi there, finally after a year of searching I got myself a 200 and can put my TLR200 to rest. I am really impressed by that wee Fantic! What a nice handling bike and the power picking up sooo smooth... you know what I mean! Only a couple a things I probably want to fix: -Clutch needs a lot of finger-force: cable is mooving freely.. anything else to have the clutch actuation less "blistering" (to my finger, that is..) - Clutch slip in 5th/6th gear... No noticeable slip in lower gears... what oil do you recommend? Cheers!
  8. Hi, the other week I broke the inner foot brake lever on my TLR, trying to weld the alloy lever was to no avail....it's thin section aluminium after all Tried to order one off my friendy Honda delaer in NZ and got after a week's worth of waiting that the lever is not available off the shelf here in NZ and that Honda Japan also do not stock this item any longer.... Does the following part exist in your toolchest? - The inner lever of the foot brake pedal. Honda Name: Middle Arm RR brake 46516-KJ2-000- Thanks heaps for your help!
  9. Have a look here: www.spyderchat.com for anything around MR2 2000 onwards... Stefan
  10. Yesterday I had a test-ride on THE next Trail and Trials bike. www.fxbikes.com This was just a prototype..but imagine what you could do on a 45 kg bike. My impression: rides like a (trick)bicycle, for now rather trimmed for (downhill) speeds then for trials..but a rake change is possible. And for transport: put it on a car bicycle rack... Suddenly my Montesa is quite a heavy chuck a metal.... Will have another(hopefully more extensive) try later this month and report back. Stefan
  11. I like the dishwasher idea....Did the missus shunt you out for weeks for only for a few days? I use Armour all for plastic cleaning. Works a treat but as with a lot of cleaners the plastic arracts even more dust n dirt after the action.

    Skid Plate

So the skid plate bends over the lower engine housing? Does that mean that there is no need to use my 10 ton press? Cheers, Stefan

    Skid Plate

When removing the skid plate on my '01 I found that the shape is changed a wee bit ( seems that the pre-owner did quite a lot of work on rocks...) Questions: When mounting an OK skid plate, would you have a non-contact between lower engine housing and skid-plate? What is the measured distance for bolt hole to bolt hole (rear to front) on a new skid plate? The 10 ton press needs a bit of a workout Stefan

    Airbox(2001+)

My last attempt to use the Monty as a submarine ended with quite a hefty repair bill (buckled conrod). Once the water is coming up to seat height it was all over. Now I am thinking about a snorkel with a flexible hose going up my back and ending above the helmet. That would give me a wading depht of about 1.5 mtrs... more than a landy can do... Cheers
  15. Hi, after mounting a new timing chain my TLR 200 has a huge base engine knocking noise What I did: Changed the timing chain cleaned out the centrifugal oil filter on the right side After the rebuild refilled with oil, started the unit and: the noise from the chain slack was gone but a huge knocking noise from the bottom end came on. The noise is in sync with engine speed and does not fade away like after the refill of a dry engine. Sounds like an engine w/o oil pressure What I checked again: Timing: OK crankshaft bounce ( in case I bent the crank while blocking it to get the rotor nut out) 0.1 mm on rotor: OK gears I blocked with a mild steel piece: No bent/broken teeth centrifugal filter: Initially found a lot of debris in there (the previous chain already grinded away a rib near the lower sprocket) housing: no chafing marks Any idea? Cheers, Stefan
