  1. I’m in the process of rebuilding the Spanish Amal 930 concentric on my 1971 Lobito 175 Mk4. The needle jet is stamped 106A, and that’s what is listed in the owner’s manual as the correct jet. Amal concentrics had long and short needle jets and some jets were for 4 stroke applications, with others being for two strokes. I have seen lots of Amal needle jets for sale that are designated 106, but not 106A. Does anyone know what the difference is? Thanks for any help!
  2. Hey riders, my current project is a very neglected Lobito 175 Mk4 (model 76). After disassembling and inspecting the gearbox, nothing is broken, but the countershaft has a worn area where the sleeve gear bronze bushings contact. I’ll obviously need a new shaft and sleeve gear bushings, but I’ve noticed that some later 5 speeds had two sets of caged needle bearings instead of the bronze bushings for the sleeve gear. Anyone know if it’s possible to retrofit the needle bearing shaft to an earlier gearbox?
  3. Thanks for the info. Very interesting as the diagrams I’ve seen show the rectifier mounted to the rear motor mount and the coil under the tank.
  4. Thanks again. I do have that parts book, but my last Lobito had the coil mounted under the tank, but now I'm wondering if it had been relocated by a prior owner.
  5. Thanks for the info. Very interesting as the diagrams I’ve seen show the rectifier mounted to the rear motor mount and the coil under the tank.
  6. Hi all, my Lobito 175 Mk4 basket case project came with a blue Femsatronic ignition coil that goes on the bracket under the tank. I’ve only seen the reddish colored versions of this coil, which are shaped identically to the blue one I have. The connections look identical as well. Does anyone know if there’s a difference between the blue and red coils, or is one just a later version of the same part?
  7. Thanks for the info. My purpose was twofold; the later style cover provides smoother clutch action and better feel, as well as locating the cable and arm on the top of the case where it’s out of harm’s way. The early style worm actuator quickly gets caked with gunk thrown onto it from the chain and front sprocket, especially in muddy woods conditions.
  8. Hi everyone, will a later style, ‘72-later ignition cover with the clutch arm on the top fit my model 76 1971 175 Lobito with the earlier cover with the clutch cable that enters from the bottom of the cover?
  9. Hello all, new to the forum here. I raced Pursangs as a teen in the late 70s, and I’ve recently purchased a Bultaco project. The bike has never been repainted, and the color is molded into the gelcoat on the tank. The tank has many stress cracks in the gelcoat. I plan to coat the inside of the tank with one of the tank sealing products on the market. For the outside of the tank, I’d like to just clearcoat over the original gelcoat to protect it and seal the cracks somewhat. Has anyone done this? What do you Bul experts recommend?
