Thanks for all the help so far guys, and yep it opens up a can of worms, but I was mad enought o take it on in the first place.. HOWEVER, the plot thickens. On closer inspection, in fact on trying to test fit the D7 engine into the frame, I have found that either it has been altered, or is not a D7. The front engine mount appears to be for a tiger cub. The giveaway is the T20B then four numbers stamped on the mount. I have not been able to find a frame number in the usual place on the frame either. And the swing arm has a part number stamped on it that does not fit with a bantam. Any ideas anyone. WHY DID I START THIS ANYWAY ????

Thanks totalshell, very helpful, but whats the rule regarding pre 65. If you fit a D14 engine wont that be later the 65?, Is that allowed. Just how standard do they have to be? Are you saying the D7 engine is U S for the purpose, or just that the four speed would be better. Can i beef up the forks any way. I am gonna fit rear shocks from NJB. I would like to put double tube set up under the engine, and bash plate, will this weaken it too much? Anyone out there with photos of their own banatams ? Hi folks, am looking to build a project bantam trials from an old D7 I have, but I am a beginner and dont really know where to start. Can anyone help with the following. Forks: What can I do to the originals to make them viable. Dont really want to get too far from original. Wheels: I am pretty sure I want to run a 21" at the front, will I have to get one built. Exhaust: are there any out there to buy, will another make fit or is it a build it job. Engine: any tricks on the engine. Hope someone can help or point me in the direction of someone who can. By the way, some great bikes shown on the site, if you've got photos to give me something to aim at that would be great. Dont want much eh!!!!!!
