    Ty350 Petcock

I have an older TY350 monoshock and I need a new petcock. Anybody got a part # or a source? I have the owners manual but no PN's in there. Thanks Mike
  2. Kevin, After getting the right tool, 12mm allen wrench, I got the front axel out. You were right there were 3 tabs that were bent back by the front wheel tabs. I was able to pry them back straight and reassemble the front wheel correctly. Now the speedo works and I am a happy camper. Thanks for the help. Mike[ uote name=kevin j' date='May 18 2007, 05:40 PM' post='125371] yes, if I recall correctly it's been a while since I have had my wheel off. Don't ride it too much any more. It's the one I have converted to GG front disc brakes, and I need the speedo drive in there as a spacer. I think there are two milled slots on the wheel hub. Two tabs on a sheet metal part inside the speedo drive engage the slots. On other models, if the tabs are not in the slots, and axle is tightened up, the tabs bend back flatter. Then they don't reach into the slots when the wheel is put on correctly. I think its true of the Ty also. The tabs turn a large gear, sort of, or metal piece with teeth cut on it. That turns the speedo drive the cable plugs into. Basically a worm gear drive, like a car steering box, in reverse: the big gear is the input, the small worm is the output. Sometimes the drive tangs shear off or the teeth strip out if the cable seizes or puts to much resistance take it apart and it will likely be obvious what is wrong.
  3. Thanks for the tip. Luckly I've a Harbor Freight a couple of miles from my house/ They had a whole set on sale for $13. Now I've got all the sizes I'll ever need and they're 1/2" drive Mike
  4. Thanks for the quick reply's now to find a 12mm allen key. Mike
  5. Ok I've got the manual, not much help, I need to remove the front wheel on my newly acquired TY 350 to attempt to get the speedo working. Released the pinch bolt but nothing moves and I don't have the "special tool" as stated in the manual. Can someone describe the special tool to me? Is it still available? any alternatives? The bike's stored about 70 miles from me so be kind. I tried to det the axel off yesterday and no luck. I'll be going up again Saturday and would like to solve this problem. Thanks in advance Mike

  8. Is there anywhere that Trials are listed on a state by state basis. I'm a newby and I'm trying to find some novice events to enter. Hopefully somewhere in North Carolina. I see a lot of listings but they are listed by event name not location. Thanks in advance, new TY 350 owner Mike
  9. Kevin, The my TY is not where I'm emailing the board from. I'll check tomarrow but I dont recall any provisions for tabs? It looked like the speedo cable went into the fitting and everything was internal. Do I need to take the wheel off to see the tabs? Located in Wilmington, NC. Thanks Mike
  10. I am getting my newly acquired TY 350 up to speed and have an issue with the fork mounted speedo. I checked the owners/service manual and there's no real information about the sppedo listed in it. 1st the speedo itelf works... I disconeceted the cable from the wheel fitting and turned the cable with a drill and it functions fine. 2nd when I spin the front wheel with the cable attached the cable doesn't move, so I guess the cable drive in the front wheel isn't working. Anybody know of a fix, or how to get to the part? Anybody know where to find the part? Thanks in advance Mike

    Ty350 Oil

The oil I bought was Maxima Syn with castor so I hope it works out. I figured with the modern syn oild 32 to 1 would be rich but I'm a little surprised at 60 to 1. The bike already has a inline fuel filter and I am waiting on the manual before I clean the carb. Probably not much different than the Mik's on mu Kawa H1 B Mach 3 and I cleaned them ok. I ran it a couple of minutes on the old gas an she idled fine with no noticeable noises or knock. I'll try some Amoco 93 1st and add the race gas if she Knocks. Hpefully the mail will bring the manual and a new shifter tomarrow. Thanks for the replys. Mike

    Ty350 Oil

Just got my new to me TY350, I plan on running Maxima Castor pre mix oil in it (love the smell of castor and couldn't find any Klotz). I plan on draining the tank (smells of old gas) and refilling with 93 octaine(US) but I'm not sure of the advised pre-mix ratio. Is 32-1 a good place to start. Its been a long time since I mixed premix for a 2 stroke. 1968 Penton Six days, in 1970. After that all my 2 strokes were injected. My service manual is in the snail mail somewhere.... One more question, one time I turned on the gas and gas poored out of the carb overflow.... the next time it was fine. My diagnosis is sticking float.... sound right ? Thanks in advance Mike

    Ty 350

I just picked up an 86 TY 350. I haven't been able to locate an owner's or service manual for it yet. Does anybody have handy the capacities of the Tranny and forks. I always like to change out fluid's when I pick up a bike. I've been refered to B&J Racing for parts, any other good sources? Would the 85 and 86 service manual be about the same, I found a reprint of the 85 TY350 service manual available at Yamaha dog. Thanks in advance Mike
