  1. Cant help sorry but I'll keep an eye on this thread because I'm in the same position!
  2. Thanks Bilko. Figured that but was hoping to hear from people that have already done it just so I can compare notes. Thanks though
  3. Hi folks. Sorry if this has been asked numerous times. I have a 2005 rear wheel for a Rev3 that I would like to use in a Beta Evo 2017. I believe that to do this I need to make up some spacers? Does anyone know what size spacers and/or any other info is much appreciated
  4. Thanks for your rrply though gasserguy!?
  5. Oh no! Your kidding right??? I'll get some phone numbers of folk when I'm next up. Cant be doing with FB sorry.
  6. Hi folks. I've just joined Zona1 and was hoping to go and practice on Friday morning but I need a playmate. Anybody going on Friday? I know most members organise thir time there on faecesbook but I really dont want to join FB?
  7. Thanks folks. All very useful! I guessed the 4ride might not quite be a normal 4rt in disguise. Still fancy one for green laning but thats going off subject. Looks like a normal 4rt might be the answer with some additional fuel storage on it. Can't really use a bike rack because I rarely have access to a car. I commute all year round on a bike. Brrrr Thanks for all your ideas. Will post it here if and when i get myself sorted. Cheers
  8. Hi folks. Nearly 7 years since I was on this fab forum. Haven't ridden for ages either (injuries etc). SO...I'm after some advice please. I want to get back into trials but without the expense of a van. Trailer also a no-no (nowhere to store it). I'm lucky in that the local club and practice area is only about 15 miles away so I'm thinking about a road reg'd bike that I can ride to the club site AND ride a trial on. Preferably a bike with lights. I'm wondering if the Montesa 4ride (never seen one in the flesh) can have the big seat etc removed in seconds and is it then a normal 4rt underneath? OR..is there another trials bike that has lights/ling ride seat etc than can be removed easily when i get to the club site?? Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks
  9. Thats all fabulous news. Pleased to be able to say that some of us NON USA folk read that book too. It helped me a great deal when I started out. Bravo Bernie for writing it!
  10. My teacher in Hong Kong had what I thought was a great way of helping with this. Start with the front wheel up against a wall and a brick under or half under the back tyre...ie to jam the bike against the wall. Now sit and eventually stand on the bike. Handlebars are straight. When you feel that you will fall to the right, try to turn right with the bars. When you feel that you will fall to the left ..try to turn left with the bars. Of course, you cant really turn because the bike is jammed against the wall,...but it teaches you that the force of falling can be counter-acted by the force of turning the bars. Not sure if that all makes sense...a video would be best of course.
  11. Thats a shame... (meaning that you've been ill Andy). Hope you manage to shake it off soon! Too bad about the trial too, but these things happen I guess! It will just make next year all the more worth waiting for. Get well soon!
  12. Fantastic news! Great to see that Andy and WVAC have made the huge effort to put this trial on again. I've observed this trial before folks and can say it is an excellent trial and the venues are terrific. Also note that you can ride on a modern bike....and I guarantee....whatever bike you are on you're going to have a good ride! If no work comes in for me on that day Andy I;ll be there and will be happy to observe. Hope to see lots of riders there supporting this great trial.
  13. agree with old trials fanatic. The best way to get people to observe...or help with admin is the gently gently approach. No-one will volunteer or want to spend their valuable free-time in an atmosphere which is unfriendly or unwelcoming.
  14. Good point. Never thought of that one before.
  15. Absolutely agree. Get some advice...but better still, buy yourelf a lesson with someone worthwhile. Also, read the Bernie Schreiber book. There is one for sale on TC now. Great book! Also the ryan young dvd, and the steve saunders dvd. Dont just assume you'll learn through trial and error. Its possible you could be using a completely incorrect technique. You MUST be mindfull of that, coz if you are, then you will just be practicing the wrong technique and be getting better at doing it wrongly,...if you see what I mean. Always seek advice from a pro, not just from the local pub.
  16. Oh no, I must be getting old. Dont know all these trendy greetings. Boas to you anyway! Never mind if you dont know Mike!
  17. Welcome, Hope you enjoy trialscentral and find it as usefull as I have. I have a colleague that has a nephew in Portugal that rides trials. I dont suppose you are Mike Allens nephew are you?
  18. Mmmm...52 weeks riding per year. That reminds me of my time in Hong Kong. I suppose I COULD still ride 52 weeks of the year here in UK, but personally Id rather keep my nuts than go riding in some of the weather we've had over the last few months! You lucky guy!
  19. Just rode my first ever trial with Ledbury MCC. What a friendly club, and what a lovely trial. All very clearly marked out, good variety of sections...and what an AMAZING venue!! Never been to Clyro before, and frankly I couldnt believe my eyes. Looking forward to the next one already. Keep up the good work, and thanks for doing enter on the day...very helpfull for me, (selfishly) since I never know untill often the day before, if I will have to work or not. THANKS!
  20. Jeez...that REALLY takes the p***. Is there ANYTHING that is on the side of the good guys in this country!
  21. Thanks for all the replies guys...think you've all been watching too much Blue Peter tho SO,..I need 3 old washing up liquid tubs, a tub of butter, some yellow tape, and of course some double sided sticky tape....right! Sorry..shouldnt take the mikky..since all your ideas are well meant of course. Anyway...I'll let you know how I get on. I think I'll probably buy the ready made one, and then just stick some numbers on. Sure it will break soonish, but there we go....money spent on the bike is money well spent eh! Would rather have one that hangs down...(so to speak)...rather than one that points to the sky!!...oo-er..since I guess thats gonna atract more attention from PC plod...if he happens to be sneaking around the country lanes of outer skegness or wherever I may be.
  22. HI everyone... so..finally, I got round to tax the bike etc....So at last I can have a go at the Longmynd trial this year..(work permitting). Anyway..does anyone have any advice which number plate to buy and from where. I've noticed one dealer does one for about 15 pounds, that includes a rear mudguard thing that makes the mudguard wider. It looks bulky and heavy to me. I prefer the look of the Sherco one they sell but they say its not for GG. SO...what do you all reckon? And I guess after buying the yellow bit, I just have to go and find some sticky numbers to make my own plate??..would rather have a 'proper print' plate if its possible in a smallish size.
