  1. I am Ben Penny and I am in Bristol. Strange that the bike is near me and the name is very similar. I hope the first thing he does is fit electronic ignition! I hope he has lots of fun with the bike.
  2. I think you mean Ben Penny. I was so in love with that bike (if it is the same one). My Dad and I built it together as our first Pre 65 bike. We hada lot of fun and I made lots of it at school in my CDT lessons. Sadly it was awful. It was a make do and mend bike on a budget. We got it running and rode it in trials as I started to drift away from school boy trial towards Pre 65 fun. It was before electronic ignition, trick carbs etc etc . It made no power and after 5 mins of running it got too hot and needed to rest. Sadly it put me right off 2 strokes. We soon moved on to a C15. That was great fun. A much better bike that I rode for many years. Ahhhh happy days! Would like to know if it is the same Bantam D7 and where it is now. It has a chrome frame and the Bantam tank was orange to match the yokes
  3. Wow. When i saw those stickers on the sliders I thought they looked like ones I put on a bike years ago. Then I saw the orange yokes that my dad sprayed with paint that we bought frame ray fishers...... What bike were they in? We had them in my first ever pre 65 bike.
  4. Have had a problem with my AJS trials tank this weekend (absolutely gutted!!!!!) Where can I get a new one? I would like an alloy one, but a very good copy of an original one in fibreglass would be ok. I'd really like to have one with the original type filler cap, rather than a push and twist one that Miller sells. Any one got any pointers? Names / numbers and indication of price would be very much appreciated.
  5. Cant be sure from the pictures or video, but it looks to have the original strap metal foot rests. If it does, they wont let you race it like that. Take them off and keep them and buy some new assemblies from Adrian Moss. It would be a shame to have done all that work, entered the event and then not be allowed to ride when it fails scruitineering (and if it has fixed footrests, it WILL fail!) Will look out for the bike at the event.
  6. I have a std mag, but have been offered a rebuilt mag and told that they are really good and a good performance up grade. It's reconditioned. Not sure if it fixed or variable timing and as for the mounting, well, I'd make it fit! It's
  7. Are PAL mags worth the money when fitted to a 350AJ. What are the benefits over a std mag? Worth bothering or go straight for a PVL set up? Your thoughts please.
  8. I have just the one Golner Honda, but two new spare tank covers. How do you insert pictures? I'll post a pic of what I have. Mine has an the Honda reddy orange on the top half, white on the lower half and a blue coach line. Let me know and I'll stick some RTL pics up of the one I am restoring
  9. why not fit some new 32mm marzocchis instead? I have some NOS in the garage. Same as the ones in the netherlands, but less postage! Or, how about some NOS 32mm Cerianis? Better damping than MPs (sorry all you MP lovers) and new old stock rather than used...... Probably got some NOS 15mm spindles knocking round as well.
  10. The colours dont look wrong. Mine is a variation on that theme. It has the Honda orangey red frame and plastics that match the colour of the tank cover with a white swinging arm. My tank seat cover is the same as the one in the picture, just wth slightly different graphics, I think it also has another blue line on the tank cover in the white section, but that red coach line ~ I'll tryand fond some pics of the bike. I have 2 new tank seat covers in those colours, 1 as a spare for my bike and another one. The colours are in the gel coat so wont rub off (unlike some on offer that require painting) It can go a s good home if it's needed.
  11. very nice front number plate. What's it off and where can I get one, It would look good on my bike.
  12. Thanks for the advice. I am hoping my mate in Japan can help source one for me. Could use the knuckle off another Honda and the TLR lever on that knuckle to complete the job. Will also contact Ellastone also, but some of his prices do seem a bit wild! (
  13. I've got a Golner TLR200 twinshock. It has all the nice RTL bits in the motor to soften it off and is a wonderful bike to ride. As I ride Pre65 in the main when I ride this bike it is so good I can hardly ride it. Everything works as it should, nice suspension etc. Compared to a rigid girder bike it is a dream to ride! It still looks great with the one piece tank seat cover and alloy tank underneath it. It make it look much nicer than the original steel tank it left the factory with. Yes, Bob did convert 250s into Monos, but mine is still a twin shock. Have owned the bike for about 18 years and rode it in club trials for many years. I was a school boy at the time and most people were changing Only problem with the bike is I havent ridden it enough over the last few years but am looking to sort that out very soon.
  14. You can now buy beautiful CNC Rickman hubs that are wonderfully made to far higher standards than the originals were ever produced. Competition classic made some and they were looking to off load them on ebay a few months ago. As for foundries 'knocking stuff out', those places dont exist anymore. By the time they have made the mould, and then you have had them heat treated and machined, sorted out a brake plate, cam arm shoes etc etc etc etc, you wont be looking at a 'cheaper' alternative. Good luck in your hunt!
  15. that looks magnificent! I have some NOS Marzocchi forks or NOS Cerianis that would look the business in that frame! PM me if you want a set
