  1. Hi mate im in London, any pictures, help or advice would be greatly recieved I can weld, but not good enough to weld a swinging arm or something like that. I welded a bracket on for the exhaust on the Bantam and thats as far as it goes hehe. I dont mind sending the bits out to people If there not local. Ive got the engine out and stripped and all the mudguards in the bin as they were rotten, started stripping all the rubbish and paint off the frame, The tank will need extensive work and may work out cheaper to buy an indian made one or even a alloy one. Hubs are stripped and cleaned off, even if I do sell them and fit alternatives. Got all new bearings for the headset, the races were ok. Oil tank and covers are all stripped and in primer, ready to go black. So its all coming along nicely know Just got to sort out the frame and swinging arm. Once thats sorted I can paint it and start reassembling it Then source front forks which Im still trying to find out what was originally used as It would be nice to make it into a C15T Im going to get a few pictures soon if what it was like in the first place Luke
  2. Afternoon all, Havent been on here for quite a while but decided to come back as Im about to start a new project as the Bantam is know finished, been blown up twice and is sitting in the garage looking sorry for itself Anyway, Ive got me hands on a 1966 BSA C15 star which, like my last one needs a full rebuild. Thankfully the engine is running and is sweet so that will be left until I earn some more money so I can add in the trials gearing, PVL ignition etc etc So onto the frame, forks and swinging arm. Its going to be a pure bred trials bike and although it will take along time, it will be done properly I only have a limited budget so Im looking at ways to save money. I had thought about a faber frame and saving up but I would like to try and use the original frame if possible. However having read on here I understand I need to lengthen/widen the rear subframe and alter the head set angle? The bike doesn't have any front forks but does have the yokes so I am looking at possible replacements that are lighter and stronger? Ive got a 21' front wheel with a bantam hub already along with a few bantam rear hubs but if I can I could like to use something more lighter/ suited for the job? I did see a lovely c15 with alloy hubs, it looked the bee's knees Is there anyone who would modify my swinging arm for me?? along with the angles?? Thanks in advance Luke
  3. Hi all, My bantams well on its way to being finished so though I would get myself another project. A BSA Barracuda 250cc. Im going to strip it down and convert it to yet another trials bike as I am planning on competing in a few trials :-) Question - Can I use My spare Bantam hubs and fit them to the bike and if they can will the braking be efficent enough to pass an MOT as I wil take it to local shows?? I Understand this is a popular modification??? With an 18'' wheel on the back and 21'' on the front what is the maximum tyre width I can fit on the rear without modifying the swinging arm. Can the swinging arm be modified easily or is there a replacment that I can fit?? As you can tell I am a novice when it comes to the 250 BSA's so excuse my stupid questions :-( Thanks in Advance Luke
  4. hi all, Im currently building a bsa b25 motorcross bike along side my bantam trials bike and was wondering what front fork set up i should go for I am after keeping the speedo and lights etc etc as i will need it for onroad too ( i could make a bracket for the speedo), I also am on a very tight budget and cant afford anything too expensive. Can anyone recomend a cheap set up, it wont be getting pummled very often (offroaded) as unfortunately i need to keep it for everyday use aswell, I was think perhaps ally forks?? Something that will get me up to a 21'' wheel on the front would be nice ( do i need a 21'' for motorcross?) and can fit ally mudguards too?? Can anyone help?? Cheers Luke
  5. Cheers dudes, I want to fit a few other bits and pieces before a take some photo's and upload them. The heavy duty forks are fitted and finished and my 21 '' wheel loosley assembled in the frame. I have sourced a 19'' trials dunlop tyre which was new for a 10 quid. When I have gone through this tyre I will rebuild the wheel with the 18'' rim. It really painting, polishing and reassembling left to do. Im still after a fold in kickstart as the guy before me snapped the standard one off and a larger sprocket which I will need advice on. I have been told i need a 58 tooth sprocket but im not sure?? Any idea's Thanks for all the kind words Luke
  6. Hi all, my names Luke and im 16, i am currently rebuilding a 1951 Bsa Bantam into a trials bike, ready for competing. I get my license in october so the restoration is going slow and should be ready to ride in october. I bought the bike standard, with the silly mudguards and 19'' wheels and the engine didnt run. I have pain stakingly rebuilt every little piece of it, from the engine, wheels, forks, mudguards etc etc I have fitted a 21'' wheel on the front and left the 19'' on the back as i like the little higher ride height. Knobbly tyres, genuine competion footrests, and heavy duty forks, alloy guards, wider handle bars, high rise exhaust, larger rear sprocket and a raised seat. It should be a mean machine when finished, not the fastest bike but should get me going for the trials season. I would like to join up with a trials club near London as i would like to do a bit of green laning and trials riding before i start competing. Im already looking at a bsa b31 trials bike for my next step, only time will tell.... Once again Hi Luke
