  1. Hi Stork, thanks for the explanation. I am as sure as I can be that there is no air leak either from the old oil inlet or around the air box carb junction or the engine side. The bike starts as it always has, first or second kick, no problems. It runs fine up to quarter throttle then starts to run rough. It produces a lot of exhaust at all throttle openings. As per your e-mail I checked the air filter, the ignition is on the same mark as it has been and I used a fresh batch of 2T mixed as accurately as I could (50:1 synthetic Castrol). The needle clip is set on the lowest point on the needle so I can't lift it further. I will try a plug chop tomorrow. Cheers Iain
  2. Hi Woody that's great. Could you also tell me what carb you have on your bike? I am still trying to workout the differences between the models. Thanks Iain
  3. Hi Feetupfun thanks for the reply. I am sure I got #1 right I also checked for leaks around the rubber boots and could find nothing. #2 I guess this makes the fuel travel slower through the jets and therefore more air? So the mix is leaner? #3 Does this mean the mix needs more air? So the mix is richer? As you can see I don't really know what I'm doing here. Cheers Iain
  4. Hi all, some more help please. I have removed the auto oiler from my TYZ Scottish and it is now running a bit rough. Idle to quater throttle is fine but it will not rev out. Can anybody let me have the base settings for this bike? It has a JK carb running on full synthetic Castrol at 50:1. Why would the carb settings be so far off after the removal of the auto oiler? Thanks Iain
  5. Thanks for your comment Alan, I'll wait to hear from the others if they any thoughts. Could you give me an idea of the thread title you mentioned. I have not found it yet. Woody try this link for a picture. http://www.tomina.ro/motociclete/288-Yamah...cottish%20.html Cheers all Iain
  6. Here is a link to an advert for the original bike. Before you ask I am not the rider in the top middle!!! http://www.trials.com.au/content/index.php...er&Itemid=6 The tank takes about 6l (not the 4.5 on the ad) there is also a de-compressor which I have never seen on a 2t before. The white box over the rear wheel is for the battery. The bike seems to be made up of parts from a 4GG motor and chassis etc with some 4ML parts to make life really difficult. The autolube seems over complicated as it has 2 oil tanks and 2 pumps and is connected into the loom. However, I have done 3 trials on it so far and it's great to learn on. Cheers Iain
  7. Thanks for that Alan, I will do the same and remove the pump. Do you just tape up the wires and leave them in place? Cheers Iain
  8. Hi all, I have a 1997 TYZ 250 "Scottish" with the steel tank and swing arm and road kit. It is not premix but has a gear driven oil pump and what I think is a second very small oil tank and pump which is wired into the loom. The problem is that it is delivering too much oil. How do I reduce the the amount of oil it delivers? Any suggestions would be great. Cheers Iain
  9. Great, thanks. I will give them a go.
  10. Hi Guys, Really could use some suggestions here. I am based in New Zealand and as far as I can tell Aprilia never imported trials bikes here. So, no parts supplier. Can any one suggest a dealer or supplier I could use to get parts? Cheers Iain
  11. Hi Woody, that's great! I will have a go and let you know how I get on. Thanks. Iain
  12. Hi guys, I've just got a TYZ 250 Scottish as a project bike and the fork seals are leaking, as well as lots of other things which need repairing. Could someone tell me how to change the seals please? I looked in the archives but could not see a description. Secondly, where can I get a service manual for the bike it is a 1996 or 7. Any help would be great. Thanks. Cheers Iain
  13. Hi all, Based in South Island NZ. Have an old Aprillia TX 280 (still not working) and just bought a TY250 (Scottish) and found the forum when looking for info on the bike. I guess it was designed for the SSDT? Trials competition here is more limited than in the UK but there is a good local group of enthusiasts so looking forward to trying the bike. We now have a good dump of snow on the hills so it will be my first snow trial! Or is that trial by snow? Cheers Iain
