August 20, 200620 yr Hello all I have a 2004 gas gas 280 pro and have taken the water pump off so that i can replace the seals in the clutch. Can someone tell me the best way of alligning the pin in the pump shaft with the slot on the drive gear, i can no longer stand the stress of trying to locate it I have also noticed that when you wiggle the shaft water drips out. Is this normal? I have probably got water in engine now thinking about it I have got to renew the bottom gasket on the barrel any advice on things to be careful about? Thank You
August 20, 200620 yr Easiest way i found of lining up the gap with the pins is having them both facing up and down so they are vertical and just try from there just be gentle with it til it goes in cant really think if theres an easier way ?
August 20, 200620 yr line em' up to one of the three bolts, that way its going to work fo sho'. Up and down is a great idea but the angle the water pump sits at its hard to tell if the little pin is straight up and down or not.
August 20, 200620 yr Put the main cluch cover on and slowly push the kickstart down with a little preasure on the pump housing and on it goes but make sure you get in to the right 2 slots!! Edited August 20, 200620 yr by gasgasthermo
