First Trials Bike

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I am an intermediate rider, mostly MX with some offroad. To help with my balance, I want to get into trials riding. I am 200 lbs, ride a YZ450F and live in Texas.

What would the best make / model / size for my first bike? 2 or 4 stroke? New or used? Where can I buy one? Where would I get parts/service for it?

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you on the trail.

Gerald

I would go to a local event, Munster has a club and Ravia Okla. has a club and both have dealers that would let you ride anything you might want. Don't buy before you ride all of them. I would suggest a good used 2 stroke Montesa.

Got my 1st Trials bike a few weeks back from M Sport, very pleased with it, a tidy TYZ. I agree with most of the above, especially about visiting an event. Had I been able to afford one, I would have gone for a used Mont or Beta, as they seem to last but opted for the Yam due to its lasting qualities
