Snapping Front Fenders

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me? I bought a beta rev-3 last week, and both times i've ridden it i've snapped the front fender whilst dropping off a 4ft-ish rock :D . Do any other beta riders find this happening to them, and what can I do to prevent this frustrating problem happening?

Thanks

joe

Have you got spacers in there?

Must say though I managed too fold mine in half today and she popped right back in place :D

hmmm that sounds a bit odd barry

couple of people rond here use sherco mudguards cos theyre so flexible, or an old techno mudguard will work

It happened to me on my 05. Every time i did a drop off over 4 ft they just snapped at the front . I bought a new one and same again. Called Lampkins and complained, so they sent me one for free. Guess what it happened again so i called them again, they then sent me one from the previous year and had no probs, but saying that shortly afterwards i did put 5mm spacers in.

It's caused by a mismatch between the profile of the guard and the stay with the rivets pulling the guard too tightly against the stay. When the stay twists the guard cracks across the edge of the stay. Use a nice set of dome head allens and nuts instead of rivets, put some rubber 'twixt guard and stay and don't overtighten. Problem solved - in my case at least.
