Week 8 - Pre 65 Scene Brings A Strangled Scream!

However- This does mean that the result is usually decided by a 30 second special test. Not ideal but better than beating up the bottom 33% of the entry.

I know what you are saying but then the winner of the trial is decided by a motorcross race and i feel that defeats the object of a trial. Does this then raise the argument of multiple routes?

"Does this then open the argument for multiple routes"

Isn't this why many turned to riding the older machines in the first place, modern trials were just too hard ?.

Will the introduction of multiple routes in modern trials draw riders back to riding modern bikes?.

Are some of the twin shock crew more into the easy sections than the actual machines?.

Talking to a lad who chucked up on riding the SSDT, he said it started to get a bit hard for him, plus there was easier pickings the weekend before, on a trick pre 65 and capable of getting a first class award every year in the SSDT, is he just pot hunting, or a true fan of vintage trials ?.

On the other hand, is the pre 65 a parade of old motorcycles, or an event to be won ?

Set out the sections to test the likes of Grant, Thorpe, Salt, Bliss, Gaunt etc and everyone else has very tough day. What happens the following year? The 100 rider entry drops to 40 and the club puts in a lot of hard work to loose money on the event.

I don't have the answer, I was just pointing out how and why we run our classic event and how we guarantee a result.

at YORKSHIRE CLASSIC WE RUN A CHAMPIONSHIP ROUTE AND A 'CLUBMANS' ROUTE IN ALL OUR EVENTS. ALTHOUGH THE GREATER NUMBER (AVERAGE 40 ODD) RIDERS RIDE THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUTE A GROWING NUMBER (NOW UP TO 25 ) ARE RIDING THE 'CLUBMANS' ROUTE . THIS IS ABOUT 3 TIMES THE NUMBER WHO RODE IT WHEN IT WAS FIRST INTRODUCED.

SOME RIDERS HAVE STARTED ON THE EASIER ROUTE AND MOVED UP AND OTHERS HAVE MOVED FROM THE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUTE. ABOUT EQUAL NUMBERS OF NEW RIDERS RIDE IN EACH CLASS. tHE BIKES ON THE CLUBMAN ROUTE TEND TO BE MORE 'ORIGINAL' HOWEVER AS IN ALL THINGS THE MORE COMPETATIVE RIDERS RIDE MORE COMPETATIVE BIKES
