March 28, 200719 yr Hi, Just made a snap decision on an SY250, 05 model. Im moving from a Beta 200, and prior to that a Scorpa 125 4T (had one of the first in the country). Questions which have been probably been covered before.....! Petrol/Oil - Currently run the Beta on 70cc per 5 litres, carry on the same with the scorpa ? One of my riding mates had an SY250 04 for a year, and never had any problems, but anything I should look out for / check ? As I said, I know the previous owner of the bike I'm buying, know it's been well looked after and a genuine bike..... Loved the Beta - great bike, well recommended, but looking forward to being back on a Scorpa ! cheers John.
March 29, 200719 yr I use 80ml of Shell TTS to 5 litres and this seems to work ok. I've just split the centre box on the exhaust, upon removing it I found that the corner of a moulding on the top of the engine block (where the engine number is) had been digging into the silencer and pushing it up. It is common knowledge to grind this off.... so I have, typical of me- 'after' it's damaged the exhaust.
April 13, 200719 yr What do you think of the bike then John?? I always run my scorpas on the very bestest castrol 747 at 80-1. And never a problem. Presume you have had time to get used to her?
April 16, 200719 yr Author Hi Marky Boy Love the bike. I've done 3 trials on it so far, and its soooo smooth. A bit of history on my (poor!) riding career since moving from Moto-X may help! I started on a GG Pro, which rode me though the section rather than me ride it ! - I found it so snappy and I 3'd everything ! I had one of the first Scorpa 125T's and kept it for 2 years - improved me dramatically Had a Beta 200 for the last year and that was a good bike. I find the Scorpa so tractable and smooth - an excellent bike. First trial was getting used to it - finished mid pack. Second trial lost 2 marks (it was an easy trial!) - would have been top 3 but I lost the second mark on the last section - last lap ! - tw*t!) Yesterday's trial was excellent - waiting for the results. Yesterday's was tougher than last weeks - lots of streams - rock steps etc - the difference this week I rode everything in first rather than second and it made a big difference - slowed everything down in the section. All in all - very pleased ! I've had the back mudguard sprayed blue as well - doesnt make me lose less marks, but looks so much better! cheers John.
