Buying Montesa 315r

Featured Replies

Hi, again one of these about to buy a Montesa threads.

There are two 2001 models I am looking at. Both are in decent condition and quite reasonably priced.

I was just looking at the images of them and noticed this. Can you explain what is going on here, the rear tire looks like its is not straight? Is this a problem or just something I could easily straighten?

Thanks!

Usually find that the rear fender is the problem...mines out of line.

some people lean things against them while the bikes not being used to get it to stay in the right place

Thanks for your input.

I today saw the bike and did some basic test riding. Its engine felt strong and sounded ok.

There was marks that the rear tire does touch the muffler. So, some alignment problem is there, might be easily fixed though.

The only obvious problems I found was one leaking front shock and total lack of service history. The present owner has done nothing to it and knows nothing of its history. :wall:

I will see another '01 315r later this week. It has seen lots of competition but it has a solid service history and lots of things done lately.
