October 6, 200718 yr I wanted to do the same conversion to my 348, since I like the idea of the alloy tank safely fixed under the flimsey GRP cover. I was told by a bloke that had a set to sell that they dont fit since the frame is a different size.
October 6, 200718 yr The first 349's were certainly a different geometry from the 348, they had a longer swinging arm & the fork rake was different. I'd guess that the tank unit for the early 349 was the same as the the 348 one though only with the indented graphics changed. Not so convinced one from a white tanked or the later MH version would fit though.
October 7, 200718 yr Author I have a 1977 348 and a 1979 349 and the 349 tank fit fine. Thanks a bunch. That knowledge helps a lot. -Scott
October 29, 200916 yr Has anyone tried to cut up a fibreglass 348 tank with integral fuel tank so that it will fit over the later alloy fuel tank?
October 29, 200916 yr I have a '81' white 349, two '78' 348's and a '77' 348. I can tell you with absolute certainty that the 348 and white 349 tanks are not interchangeable due to frame geometry.
