Hello there I have a Bing 84 fitted on my 1975 Sherpa which needs new gaskets and O rings, but the price I found online is the same as whole new carburettor! Therefore I’m wondering if: A. Is this is the right carb for the bike? B. Where I can find a cheap rebuild kit so it runs properly? C. Can I put a new carb on it? I don’t know much about this bike so any help is much appreciated. Thanks Tom

Saw mention of a new 'Cotswolds' twin shock bike built with a Jailing motor on the Pinky twin shock conversion discussion. Does anyone have any info on these bikes - who makes them? costs? any photos etc? Many thanks!

Has anyone tried riding trials on a KT250 using only three of the six clutch springs? I've done this with a couple of TY250 twinshocks and it works out very nicely. Before I try it on my KT, has anyone already tried it?

I've just spent most of today repairing and tidying what appears to be an early Ty250 Yam based Majesty frame.Stripped threads, missing captive nuts and sawn off rear frame loop. All sorted now,but while I was doing it I noticed quite a difference in the quality of the work on the parts that are modded from the original layout. The welds and brackets for the rear shocks are nicely made and well done for example, but the join at the rear of the toolbox under the top tube is a bit "Orrible".I'm doing it for a mate and I've never really taken much notice of the frames before,(Only the new ones at Telford etc)it got me wondering if its a proper Shirt modified one or a copy. Is t…

1981 248 Montesa, same bottom end as 349. I’ve owned since new, got rebuilt about 15 years ago, done little since. It’s been a few years since I rode it and can’t remember if it always sounded like this but I think not. Any thoughts as to what this rattling is from those of you with better memories or bikes that do/don’t make this noise? Thanks. Managed to find this beauty, must be a U.S. import and it is literally spotless, including the rims and fork/engine alloy surfaces. Great fun to ride and the long legged 5th gives you a decent pace between sections or events. Gave it a decent service and all is good, tight and clean, including the 2 stroke oil pump. Have put ATF in gearbox and using fully synthetic 2-stroke oil. Found some water in the o/s front fork leg - must have been in a few deep ones!!! Flushed thoroughly and re-filled with 10 wt fork oil. Tried to get a spare ignition key - $25 + postage from the U.S. Local pet shop selling KAW4 key blanks for £3.20, with £2 charge for cutting. Thinking…

I have just bought a Montesa Cota 330. I believe it is a 1985 model but that's just a guess at the moment. The bike is a non runner at the moment but almost complete. The previous owner said it ran but not too well, they thought it was carb so fiddled with it and now can't start it at all!! The first thing I noticed was the air box is missing and someone has fitted a aftermarket foam filter. Does anyone know of an airbox for sale? The second thing I noticed was the whole fork and wheel assy. has been fitted backwards!! Handling would be interesting and the brake next to useless as it's relying on the trailing edge. From this I have deducted the previous owners have …

Ok., for discussion, what would be the pros and cons for both machines? Consider that both bikes have had a full rebuild and also have all required frame mods done etc. Heavily built rider 200lbs (90kgs) This is code for overweight 😂

I'm running a Dunlop tubeless tire with tube on a TL250. It has new rim locks tightened as tight as possible. Looking at the valve stem, the rear tube is rotating on the rim. I assumed this must be the tire rotating but I marked the tire/ rim before last ride and it is not. The valve stem is noticeably angled with only one very mild ride. See pic with line and stem from one ride. The line is from black marker to black marker and not related to raised line on tire. This is strange. Is there a fix? To recenter valve stem, I have been doing a number of deflation and inflation cycles with a tightened valve stem nut and it does straighten out. I had a TY175 do …

I just did a top end rebuild on my '74 TY250 and it is running great. Wanting to make sure all of my settings are correct, I checked my original Yamaha 1974 TY250 service manual (Copyright 1974) for the spark plug gap for the NGK B-7ES. In the specs section, page 4, it says 0.4 - 0.5mm But on page 29 it provides 0.5 - 0.6mm as the plug setting. Trail & TrialsUK sells the B-7ES plug with the notation 0.3 - 0.4 mm plug gap for a points ignition, which I have. A google search did not provide me with any other sources. What say you, and what's the source of your info? Thanks

A little background: Me- 6ft. weight 175lb with gear. Bike- 1970 Montesa Cota 247 with unknown brand of rear shocks. The shocks can be adjust, but I can't turn the adjuster. See photos. Skill level- beginner. where- riding in vintage trials competitions in woods with a lot of uphills and downhills. Goal- keep getting better and score more points. Budget- unfortunately tight. I don't want to spend more than 200GBP include shipping to USA. At first I was intrigue by the OZO "Expert" shocks. The price is 90GBP before shipping and they seems good upgrade for trial competitions. Then I start reading and found out a world full of…

I picked up a 1975 TL-250 in outstanding condition. Still had original Bridgestone tyres and chain and sprockets, and not much wear at all. I always wanted to own a 4 stroke Trials bike and this fits the bill perfectly. I weight more than the bike and am physically strong so the reputed weight of the machine should be manageable. I'll find out later today when I do the intial test ride. The suspension works great and it has heavy duty shocks specific to my weight, and a little higher than stock for extra clearance and better turning. Sammy Miller got his big Ariel down from 325 lbs to 245 lbs. Now I have read stories that Ariel Ht-5 owners are managing to get the weigh…

Hi, Has anyone out there been able to rebuid the stock (Showa) shocks on a TLR250 ?? I have bought some NJB Trick Shocks which are great, BUT the longest I could buy were still a bit shorter than the stock lenght of the TLR shocks. This has upset the steering geometry & my bike now steers like a bus. I have dismantled my stock TLR shocks as much as I'm capable of; does anybody know if you can buy seals? Shaft is 12.5mm. It looks like the cap will spin off the shock body with a special tool. Thanks, Gary B.
