For all you non facebook users I notice Yeadon and Guiseley DMC have introduced a new twin shock class to their Trials, along with an easier course for the more steady rider. So time to dust off those springs and get out. Good on you Y&G 😁

  6. Hi all, New here but not to trials. Rode from 1987 as a kid on a ty80 till 2007 when i sold my Beta rev3. Anyways the Montesa. It's pretty original but very scruffy. Its very much part of our family, my Dad got it in the early 80s to do a few fun trials and the annual new years day event for people who didn't compete regularly. Dad had ridden brit bikes in trials back in the 50s. So this was just a bit of fun. What it turned into was a family outing of dad riding in between the sections with 6 year old me on the tank, my then 11 year old brother also on the bike and any other kids that had been dragged along to watch. He spent more time messing around on this th…

Any other knowledge of this product would be appreciated as well. here is the link for it: http://products.sammymiller.co.uk/store/st...?stock_index=16 Thanks

  9. Started by turbofurball,

Both the TY and Cota throttle cables are a little shorter than optimal (ie. route them tidily and you get some revs at right lock - is there anywhere I can shop for cables by length? Or am I stuck using a universal cable kit? IIRC the TY250 throttle cable is longer than the 175, but I don't know be how much - it only needs one more inch

Fancy doing something a bit different, I've seen a pic of a fourstroke engine in what looked like a TY twinshock frame, lovely looking machine. I understand you can buy Chinese engines (Honda copys) off John Bliss for right money, I've heard one of these engines running and it did sound very sweet. Has anybody put a fourstroke engine in a yam frame?? any major problems? Cheers Mark P.S don't want a TLR, just fancy something different

Hi. I’m looking at getting back into trials as soon as we are out of Lock down. I’m looking at TYs and wonted some advice; - apart from the obvious what’s the differences between the 175 and 250s. I’m guessing the 250 is heavier and perhaps has a longer wheelbase but probably pulls better with greater torque? Any views on how they ride by comparison? - what benefits do the Majesty modifications make and are these actually worth it for a club rider? thanks

  17. Started by steve,

Hello all, I am having a problem with my Armstrong CMT 250 (Hiro) and wonder if anyone may be able help. The bike hadnt been run for many years when I bought it so I wasnt too surprised that when I did get it going it sounded very lean on low revs and no amount of carb cleaning made any difference. Mains were a little noisy too so I stripped the motor and replaced all the bearings and seals thinking it was drawing air through crankcase seals. I also bought a 26mm OKO with a range of pilot jets to replace the worn Amal Mk2. However on rebuilding the motor the problem still exists. The bike has fair compression, although I havent measured it. It starts easily on choke and…

  18. Started by spokerider,

I just recently picked up a Montesa Cota 348 and I am in the process of replacing some parts to make the bike tight and functional again. Alas, it show it's age and use, despite being well maintained by it's previous owners. To date, I've bought new brake shoes and installed, replaced the rear wheel bearings and seals, repacked the front wheel bearings [ they were still good ], replaced a badly leaking shifter-shaft seal, changed trans and clutch oils. I also lightly filed the points and reset ignition timing. I discovered that there was a small hole punched in the case from the kick-starter "bump / stop" on the shaft, allowing chain grease and dirt to enter the ignit…
