iff thats the case why wont it just seat when i blow it up for the umteenth time

I remember overcoming this problem many years ago by grinding the lip (the sealing edge bit) off the tyre with an angle grinder!

Seems a bit harsh, but worked a treat!

im sure there 2 different types of tyre tubed & tubeless ie size

No, they are both the same size; 18"

However, the tubeless tyre really has a slightly smaller inside diameter because of the sealing edge which the tubed tyre doesn't have.

Therefore you can have problems getting a tubeless tyre to sit properly on a tubed rim as it's a tighter fit, in effect.

Grinding the lip down on the tubeless tyre did work, but is a messy & awkward job.

You could try compressing the tyre by putting a ratchet tie-down round the centre of the tyre and tightening it up, then inflate the tyre with a compressor, a foot pump will not input the air fast enough to pop the last bit of bead.

sorted. 50psi with air compressor. thanks for the constructive advice

nothing on a tubed rim to pop onto as stated before.

But the tyre can still sit squarely on the rim, or not as the case may be.
