I am trying to find out which gear box oil to use in my 250cc beta rev3. I have been told to use ATF or normal 20/40 engine oil or Putoline GP10. Seems like ATF is recommneded for some types of gear boxes but not others. Any advice on what other owners use gratefully received. Regards Clive

I don't have a Beta but thought you maybe should try this posting in the Beta section to get a few responses. I have used ATF in all of my Gas Gas bikes for over 15 years, it works well and helps reduce drag. I'd stick with ATF.

The official factory recommendation is 'Bardahl Gearbox 20W40', so realisitically any good quality 20x40 motor oil will work, and so does ATF. We have had really good results with Red Line's 80w gear lube.
