Probably depends which year mate but it is easier to pull the back wheel to give that wee bit more space to work

Wheel out, swing arm off, unit out, all bearings greased, all back together, 15 mins max assuming no siezed threads so no good reason not to remove the wheel.

I broke my shock in half about 18 months ago... easy to remove it with rear wheel in situ. The nut for the bottom bolt can get seized, put some copper grease on it when you install.

I concure .... probably the easiest shock I have ever removed and replaced!! Previous owner was kind enough to put some anti sieze on the shock mount bolts so every thing came right out!!

I'm curious to know if the allen head adjuster at the top of the shock that is used to adjust compression will come all the way out of the shock or will it stop when you back it out to full soft. Not the easiest adjuster to get at is it??

I'm pretty sure that it will stop when it reaches fully soft.

The shock should be easy to remove with the wheel in since once the lower bolt is undone the wheel can be swung out of the way to make room.
