March 11, 200818 yr Sorry to repeat other bits....But just bought a 2005 4rt. can anyone tell me the name or spec of the gearbox oil ? don;t have the manual with me... Also reading the manual last night it says to inspect the piston every 6 months...does anyone really do that ?? had my 315r for 7 years and never saw the piston once... Also does anyone have any views on engine oils...any 10 40w oil be ok ? I have a supply of some semi synthetic 10 40W which would make life easier for me. any other service tips....things to check and things not to bother with ? As for pistons....it's so much work you might as well replace the damn thing rather than just look at it ?? Thanks
March 12, 200818 yr Im on to my 8th Montesa spread over 30 years and I haven't seen a piston yet ! If it aint broke you cant fix it
March 14, 200818 yr Author What about 5 w 40 fully Synth in the engine and ATF in the gearbox ?? Judging by the comments/problems with the clutch maybe I should just settle for the proper Elf oil ? Cheers for all the help

March 21, 200818 yr 5W40 fully synth oil is OK (I use it ) but use the ELF oil in gearbox. I would not us a 5W50 oil in engine /Carl
