Loose Front Disc?

Featured Replies

Guys, was out riding over the weekend and noticed a rattling noise coming from somewhere...

Upon further inspection I found it to be the front disc was vibrating as it has a little play.

Thought that this couldn't be right - so checked all the bolts and found that they were all tight.

So - took it all apart and cleaned it all up so that everything looked as good as new, put it back together again, and it was still loose!

So my question is - is the front disc suposed to have a certain amount of play?

Thanks - Boner.

They are a sliding frount disc, tis is ment to happen!

yes the disc should have slight movement they are called floating discs

i hate rattles

there should be play in the front disc

i silicon around the cups of the disc

stops the rattles and doesn't affect the braking performance

Thanks for putting my mind at rest on that one!

Cheers - Boner.

my mate just bought a 99 mont and his front disc rattles alot........ thanks for the silicon tip,

In the past i have slipped an o ring between the cuped washer and the disc to quiet them down. Looks a little cleaner than silicone. It is ment to float.
