Hi,

2004 Rev3 ... last trial included puddles that nearly swallowed the bike, so I decided to take apart the usual pivots to clean/lube. Ran into troubles very quickly when I couldn't budge my swing arm spindle. The nut came right off, but the spindle is so frozen in there that I nearly stripped the hex. Anyone have any suggestions for getting it out without completely destroying it? So far I've tried using liquid penetrant, torque on the hex, and pounding.

All that you can do is lay the bike on it's side find yourself a

suitable size peice of bar and big hammer and let it have it, even

that will probably damage the spindle beyond repair not much

else you can really do without doing a lot more damage!

Try lying the bike on its side and leaving some penetrating oil to run in, take the back wheel and shock out to take any weight off the back end. Then with the bike on its side and suitable supported try using a wooden drift or similar and a BFH to tap it out.

Try some Plus gas Its penetrating oil but expands in the joint braking up rust etc. Have had good sucess in the past good stuff much better than average well known spray products. Good luck

I was once in this situation and had to borrow a large copper mallet to do the job....no brains required!

Had this problem a couple of times and found the easiest way was to put a air impact gun on the spindle with good fitting Allen socket. Found the vibrations of the gun soon freed up the spindle. Hope it helps.

Or hit it with a ****ing hammer..
