April 21, 200818 yr Hi & Help, Here is a list of the troublsome symptoms on my '04 300 txt pro 1. Blows out quite a bit of white smoke on start-up but settles down after aminute or two. 2. Blasting up embankments can see clouds of blue(?) smoke. 3. At idle the force of the gas leaving the exhaust seems very weak, I can hardly feel it with my hand. Especially compared to 10 year old JTX/Contacts which I can feel hitting my leg 3 ft away 4. The noise my bike makes seems light & thin compared to the deep even tones of other newer & older bikes (GasGas & Beta) 5. Idle speed is ok but gives a pop/ping at regular intervals. 6. Not enough bottom end. Hard to ride smoothly unless going too fast. So after all that, are these easy to fix, not serious but spend the rest of my life fiddling with, or proper trouble & get rid asap. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
April 21, 200818 yr Im presuming that youve had this bike for a while and that when you first bought it it wasnt displaying these symptoms.Im also presuming your using a good 2 stroke oil at 50 to 1. Every 2 stroke bike puffs out a bit of white smoke , but if its excessive and the bike is running unevenly and also showing low back pressure .......it might be a sign of your crank cae seals leaking. This would allow oil from the gear box into the crank . This would be sucked up to the combustion chamber and burnt. This leak would decrease your crank compression and would effect the running also. The lack of popping from the exhaust , may be a sign of worn piston and rings and poor compression. In summary , if your running it on good oil at 50 to 1 at the mo , youve got to split the engine. April 21, 200818 yr Its only a memory but wasn't white smoke indicative of water (pumpseals ) leaking into g.box oil and being sucked in to crankcases by due to knackered crank seals? Whatever you find it sounds like a strip and replace job
April 21, 200818 yr A mate of mine had a similar problem with a 280 '05 pro, turned out to be the main bearing/gearbox seal (I think it's an o-ring on the pro's?) . I think there was a washer missing as well ? I think the replacement bearing kit is different(longer?) If you use a strong smelling gearbox oil (sorry can't remember which brand)you can detect the odour in the exhaust fumes (if you've got a big nose like me ). It was a while ago that's why I'm so vague. The problem got progressively worse,so you've got to strip it really.
