Just picked up this nice clean 2005 gas gas 250txt pro and would like to know a few things other owners are using regarding oils, sprocket sizes and the like.

Hi Mikee, looks real clean, hope you enjoy.

On my 06 and later on 07 250's (which I'm sure are very similar to yours) I put the slower (black) throttle tube and a 10T gearbox sprocket, I think the 07 had boyesen reeds in also, definitely slows it down in sections and makes it more controllable to ride. All cheap and easy, and probably worth doing ahead of the flywheel and spacer mods, which seem more suited to the bigger engines.

Of course the best bit of advice would be to practice and ride, then practice some more !

just slow your riding down, play with first gear alot......will handle most things. just bare in mind that the bike was designed to work that way and if they needed slowing down then they would come with all those extras. theres nothing wrong with the bikes as standard. i agree they may be slighty faster then some rival makes but just spend some time practising first before spending to much dosh. a couple of trials isn't really enough try a couple of months if your still struggling come back to us
